7 Day Diet

It's here again. The time I try another diet/detox. But I am really confident in this one. Also, in the fact I am sharing this with everyone to as/ annoy me about it for me to keep it up!

Recently, people at work have been discussing and doing this 7 day diet. I didn't pay no mind to it until one coworker came in on her last day and declared she lost 12 pounds. Um, sign me up!!

Let me give you the breakdown. It's called the 7 Day Diet. Plain and simple. You can read to your heart's content here but I'll give you the basics right now.

Weight Loss Program

DAY ONE: All fruits except bananas. Cantaloupe and watermelon are lower in calories than most fruits. Eat only the soup and fruits. For drinks - un-sweetened tea, cranberry juice, or water.
DAY TWO: All vegetables. Eat until you are stuffed with all the fresh, raw or canned vegetables. Try to eat leafy vegetables and stay away from dry beans, peas and corn. Eat along with the soup. At dinner time on this day, reward yourself with a big baked potato an butter. Do not eat any fruits on this day.
DAY THREE: Eat all soup, fruits and vegetables you want. Do not have a baked potato. If you have eaten for three days, as above, and have not cheated, you will find you have lost 5-7 pounds.
DAY FOUR: Bananas and skim milk. Eat as many as 3 bananas and drink as many glasses of skim milk as you can on this day along with the soup. Bananas are high in calories and carbohydrates and so is the milk, but on this particular day your body will need the potassium and the carbohydrates, proteins and calcium to lessen your craving for sweets.
DAY FIVE: Beef or lamb and tomatoes. Try to select high quality range fed animal protein, free of antibiotics or hormones. You may have 10-20 ounces of beef or lamb and a can of tomatoes or as many as 6 fresh tomatoes on this day. Try to drink at least 6-8 glasses of water on this day to wash away the uric acid in your body. Eat the soup at least once this day. You may substitute either wheat gluten (seitan) for the beef or lamb, or adzuki beans, chicken or fish.
DAY SIX: Beef or lamb & vegetables. Eat to your heart's content of the beef or lamb and vegetables on this day. You can have two or three steaks if you like, with green leafy vegetables, but no baked potato. Be sure and eat the soup at least once on this day. You may substitute either wheat gluten (seitan) for the beef or lamb, or adzuki beans, chicken or fish.
DAY SEVEN: Brown rice, un-sweetened fruit and vegetables. Again, stuff yourself. Be sure to have the soup at least once today.

Each day you are on the diet, you should drink 8-10 glasses of water to enable the weight loss and detox process in your body.

Also consume “Wonder Soup” each day. This is a vegetable soup rich in fiber, vitamins & minerals and can be consumed in unlimited quantities throughout the 7 day period.

- 64 oz water (add more if needed)
- 6 large onions
- 2 green peppers
- 3 whole tomatoes
- 1 cabbage
- 1 bunch celery - add herbs and seasoning as desired.

Boil all ingredients together for 45 minutes on medium flame and eat!

As with all these diets, there are different variations of it. My coworker printed me one that advised to eat the soup as much as possible and as much as you want. I think I will stick with that one. Mine also you eating the baked potato for breakfast on day two, vegetable day. Like I said, since my coworker lost the 12 pounds on her plan, I'll stick with it.

My concerns? I am not a huge vegetable person. So day two could be a serious test for me.
I am on my feet and on the go a lot for my job so I just hope it's not too little to keep me going.
I love me some carbs and cookies.

My excitement? To be 10 pounds lighter in a week!
Detox my body and have more energy.
Kick start healthier eating habits.

And here it all is...

I'm sure you are wondering why I am wanting to do this.
You see, 3 years I started having sugar problems. Went through multiple blood tests to check for diabetes, etc. and was told at the end I had reactive hypoglycemia. So I was on a really strict diet. I ate every 2 hours, no sweets, no white bread, lots of protein and veggies. Lost 20 pounds. And looked this good ;)

And then gradually in the past 3 years I have put back on 10 of those pounds on and off and I am seriously ready for them to be off. Completely. Wedding is just around the corner!!I just have to kick start my eating habits again. Because I did it before so I know it isn't the end of the world. I just love me some cookies!

Now, it's time to take it off. Time for 7 day diet.

  1. Question: is the wonder soup the soup you eat when you say "be sure to eat the soup" or is that a different soup and the wonder soup is just an extra part of the diet. Thank you

  2. Yup that's the soup you can eat until you're heart's content. It's a welcome addition to your fruit and veggie days.

  3. Great question! I will definitely considering adding this to the post now that I have done it.

After you are done, since you have just done a big detox you want to incorporate foods back into your diet lightly. AS in, no Burger King just yet!

  5. Do you make the soup everyday or do you make enough to last you a few days?

  6. Hi Karla! I make exactly how it says up above and it usually lasts me through the week pretty well. Just depends on how often and how much you are eating the soup throughout the week.
