Anyone that knows me, knows my slight obsession with Diet Coke. I have at least a sip once a day. I could cut back but then what's the fun in that?
And according to a recent study, it seems that I am not the only one that loves their Diet Coke. The top 10 of the nation's most sold sodas was recently released and Diet Coke has finally come out over Pepsi. It seems Coke wins, Diet or not.
Sitting at number 1 is Coke, same as 10 years ago. Then right behind it is Diet Coke, beating out Pepsi.
The trend in the past 10 years seems to be heading more towards Diet sodas and that could be because of the American peoples trend towards diets in general. People are counting calories more and more and especially watching sugar since the rise of Type II diabetes.
Not to mention that Diet Coke has introduced many favors. These include lemon, vanilla, cherry and lime.
No 5 and 6 have also done a flip-flop in the past decade. Dr. Pepper has come out over Sprite in 2010. This could show the declining trend for caffeine free soda. So amny people run around until they can't run anymore today. Multi-tasking their way through the day. Many people, myself included, need that extra caffeine to be able to conitnue through the day. So why drink caffeine free soda when you can have one that could give you a pick me up?
That's why Caffeine Free Diet Coke fell out of the top ten and was replaced by Diet Dr. Pepper. America runs on caffeine.
