Cara Box Reveal: Spring

Cara Box

Another round of Cara Box in the bag. If you're wondering what just exactly that is, let me take a few words from Kaitlyn at Wifessionals, the creator of the Cara Box.

cara (car-rah) noun  :  beloved friend

Cara Box is a quarterly box swap among women. It was created with the intention of connecting ladies, allowing them to truly get to know and encourage each other. This swap is primarily based around Instagram. Both bloggers and non-bloggers may participate, but being an active user on Instagram is a must.

The theme this spring was your hometown. Sending things that represent where you live and your hometown. I was paired with Cristina from Life with a Side of Coffee, who I sent a box to and Blakely, who gifted me a box.

Blayke did a great job with my box. I mean, I got shipped wine. Is there anything better?

Mad Housewife Wine
It really felt like I got to know her hometown, Lodi, CA. And apparently it's wine country. Basically, I need to live there.

I have enjoyed Cara Box since I joined last year. It's a great way to get to know people. And now that it features Instagram, it becomes even more personal. Sign up at the link above!

Am I Wine Enthusiast? {Review}

Thursday, September 19, 2013

I received this product in exchange for a review. No other compensation was provided and all opinions expressed are my own.

Just pat my head and call me a wino.

It was a long process to get to loving wine that included an infamous night of too much boxed, red wine and the nastiest hangover I will ever have. But I have come to the days where I can't get enough wine. A glass of wine a day keeps the doctor away. Am I right?

And thanks to Samantha over at Hooah and Hiccups for also being a wino and reviewing wine glasses, I was asked from Wine Enthusiast to review wine glasses. Wait, did I just win the wino jackpot?!

I just had to make a very important decision of if I am a white or red girl. These Fusion wine glasses won me over so I had to go for them.

These glasses are extremely lightweight and you know you have had the wine glasses that you feel on your wrist after holding up your third cup. Not these babies.

See? Easy to drink ;)

The shape of these wine glasses makes them great for a nice dinner in with your hubby or a classy dinner party with all of your friends. Very versatile with a decent price tag, just $49.99.

I am not a food photographer

According to the description, they are "The World's Most Break-Resistant Wine Glasses" As I seemed to have broken 3 wine glasses in the past year, I am sure I will be able to test this one very soon. And I hope it's true because I would hate to lose one because I love them so!

Easy for a photo prop in front of your Halloween decorations too

And what is even better than that is they are dishwasher safe. Tried and true, they made it through and no water marks to be seen. My biggest pet peeve on some of my other wine glasses. (Yea, I'm giving you the stink eye old wine glasses)

The Wine Enthusiast Fusion glasses are available here for $49.99 for a pack of four. And I strongly suggest you pick up a set..thank you Wine Enthusiast for picking me to try these!

The Party Starts with XO Brandy Sangria {Review}

Thursday, July 25, 2013

Even though today might feel like the start of fall, we are right in the middle of hot, hot summer. And it's the prime season for fresh made sangria.

And what starts a party more than an alcoholic drink?

If you follow me on Instagram, you saw me post my Mom's sangria recipe that I found while I was rummaging through her recipe box in hopes of finding a new recipe for dinner.

How fitting I would find an alcoholic drink recipe instead. And lucky for me, I am a BzzAgent that received a discount for E&J XO Brandy to try in my favorite drink.

I am a BzzAgent and received a discount to try this.
Obviously, the drink gods were telling me to make this Sangria. So I must listen.

Sangria
750 mL bottle of RED wine
1/2 cup lemon juice
1/c cup orange juice
1/2 cup sugar
(I used Splenda; watching my newlywed weight)
1/2 cup brandy
XO Brandy for me!
1 small lemon; sliced
1 small orange; sliced
1/2 pint strawberries
1 7 ounce bottle of club soda
I also added a few apples, to mix it up
In large pitcher, stir wine, juices, sugar & brandy, until sugar is dissolved.
Stir in fruits.
Just before serving, stir in club soda and brandy.

(I might have forgot the red wine part and bought white, but wine is wine)

Delish!

After a few glasses...

The brandy was nice and smooth in my Sangria. It gave it that extra kick to really set off the flavors of the wine and fruit. I never had a go to Brandy but this might be it for me from now on. And the price wasn't too shabby, only $14.99 for that nice bottle.

And I would definitely recommend my Mom's recipe for sangria at your next party. I know I will be serving this up at my next get together or visit to a friend's house. Might actually buy the red wine though this time..

So now it's time for you to get your summer party on, or random Monday night on the deck.
