Blondin' and Bobbin'

Wednesday, June 11, 2014

In honor of a year since I chopped all my hair off, I figured I needed a new do. Which, you might have previewed on Instagram.

My last haircut/ dye was back in October when I had an utter two day disaster and was way overdue for an update. The dead ends and blah hair color had to go.

When I got back into the hairdresser chair, she asked what we were doing today. And I had no answer.

She asked trim or cut. Shorter or same length. Colored or not. I had none of the above.

She suggested a bob. And I said sure! And I also made the decision to go back to blonder. I mean, after this dreadful winter we had can you blame me?

Oh, the blur.
I am now back to my blonde and have entered the world of the bob. And it was a definite plus with the Florida heat and humidity.

And I had said I wanted to grow out my hair. Silly. But I feel like I am ready to take on the world and the move with this new hair!

Have you taken on a new do' for summer? How great does it make you feel?

Sunday Social | Beauty

Sunday, January 26, 2014

Today we are talking all about beauty on Sunday Social with Neely and Ashley.

1. How old were you when you started wearing makeup?
If I remember correctly, it was 6th or 7th grade. Mom did not approve but when you have divorced parents and dad takes you to get whatever you want, it works out for ya in this case.

2. What are your top 3 beauty products?
My Luna Mini. Was given this through BzzAgent and I love it. Definitely make my face feel great.

Neutrogena Crease Proof Eye Shadows. Ever since I was given them to try I have been hooked. They work great when I have those mornings I just wake up late or the moment I am just running a quick errand and can swipe it on. I might use it more than I should but they are just so great!

I blow dry or straighten my hair everyday. Much different from my long hair days. So I always have my Vidal Sassoon Heat Protective spray ready. I feel like it's protecting my hair, it smells great and definitely makes your hair shine.

3. What is one makeup product you don't leave home without?
Lip gloss. Gotta make those lips shine on a constant basis, people.

4. What is your daily beauty routine?
I wash my face with The Body Shop Tea Tree Oil Cleanser, then apply lotion. After, comes all the makeup. If it's a work day, it's the whole shebang of mascara, eyeshadow, eyeliner, fill in brows, concealer, under eye cream, foundation, blush. If it's a day at home or running errands, I keep it light with just mascara, eyeliner and foundation.

5. What is your favorite hair/makeup product you've discovered in the last year?
In the last year, I've chopped 9 inches of hair off my head. So then comes the challenge of dealing with short hair and styling. I switched to Dove Amplifying Mousse and it really helps bring out the natural waves in my shorter hair.

As you can see, I am not a stick with one brand gal. I try everything until I find that one thing that works for me and I like. FOr instance, I accidently bought the Dove Whipped Creme Mousse. Ick. Never again.

Day of Rest

Tuesday, August 27, 2013

My work schedule isn't like the average person's work schedule. I work some weekends and have off on weekdays. So my weekdays off, most people are at work and can't play with me.

someecards.com - Don't you hate all the TGIF crap when you know you work weekends?

Therefore, my days off usually consist of an apartment or wifely duty. This means grocery shopping, laundry, cleaning, organizing...the list goes on and on. And if you recall my complaints about "coasting", it was just these days off that have come to make me quite crazy. It was the same day after day after day.

Well, today I broke that record and it felt pretty great. I didn't do one errand that wasn't for me and I didn't wash a dish or organize one thing in my apartment. And it felt pretty great.

I slept in until 10 and I am not ashamed. I had a very work driven weekend and it was nice to play a little catch up with my exhaustion.

After my nice sleep, I had a very abnormally large cup of coffee that I definitely savored.Did some blog reading, watched some morning television and dragged myself into the shower at a time many people are sitting down to their lunch.

someecards.com - Things to do: 1. Drink coffee 2. Rest of the stuff

It was then I made the decision to make a trip to do a hair refresher. My poor hair has been in need of some serious highlights and a spruce up of my new short do.' This whole short hair thing has been growing on me but I needed to give it one last try. Many foils later, I was refreshed with new highlights for fall and a freshened hair cut.

And then I might have made a stop to the dreadful place called Wal-Mart. I mean, we do need to eat so some food was necessary for a proper dinner. Well, I think the universe was yelling at me for ending my me day. Because let's just say I walked out of there with not a single thing even though I had shopped and had a cart full of stuff. (No I didn't steal!) I just find it a little crazy I have to wait in line longer than my actual shopping trip.

I was also able to squeeze in some time to do some fun editing for our honeymoon video! It is a fun side hobby that I like to do. OR pretend I am good at and I can't wait to be finished and share with all of you.

"A" helped end my night with the Pretty Little Liars finale. Yes, I love this show and was way too excited for #WorldWarA.  And my thoughts are... didn't we do the whole boyfriend is "A" thing before? I am just having a hard time convincing myself it is Ezra.

So you take days of rest on your days off? What do you like to do?

Wedding Wednesday: Wedding Loot!

Wednesday, October 10, 2012

Ok, this week is filled with wedding fun. Basically because I feel like we are in crunch mode 8 months out. We definitely did procrastinate a bit. Oh well. Can't turn back time. Can only panic from here on out ;)

But what can make that all better? My Bride to Be VoxBox!!

What in the heck is that? Many of you might ask. Well, let me just start off by telling you where it's from. I joined the site Influenster a few months ago. It is a site that sends you free things to reviewand write about on their website. Basically, helping them promote products. And they are shipped in a certain group, called a VoxBox. It is catered to yourlifestyle and personality based on the surveys you fill out and what reviews you do. You can find out all the infomration on their new and improved website! Seriosuly, if you love social media, getting free stuff and reviewing products then you should join. Don't think about it, just join.

You can watch here and see all the great stuff I got for my first VoxBox!

this was my first video so I do apologize. also, how do you change the awful still frame?!

There you have it! I have started using the Shampoo, conditioner andrepair treatment and let me just tell you how amazing it smells. Everyday I just want to sit and smell my hair. And I do already see some change in my hair so it is helping the hot mess of hair I have.

That is the only one I have tried so far. Will try the eyelashes possibly this weekend and the Relax Gum will come in handy tomorrow I am sure. I have a hotel meeting for the wedding, dress shopping for myself, dress shopping for bridesmaids and maybe dealing with the maid of honorzilla ;) So I will be popping that gum in and putting it to the true test. Will let you know how it works!

Pinterest Party!

Tuesday, August 21, 2012

My love for Pinterest can't even be described in words. I pin away hoping my wedding will be as beautiful as all the pins I am finding or I will look as awesome for my wedding day as every pin in Getting my Fitness On. But let's be serious.

We all pin and rarely do anything with it. Guilty as charged. I have made one thing out of my pins. The breakfast crock pot casserole. And it wasn't that good. But all the rest of the 436? Not. A. One.

So I was definitely intrigued when I saw 20sb hosting a Pinterest Party. Basically, a challenge to make or do something on that you have pinned. Challenge accepted.

Lately, my hair has been all kinds of eh. I know I need some sort of deep conditioning treatment but it hasn't been in my budget to purchase a professional deep condition. Que in this pin I pinned a week or so ago.

It is the egg yolk and olive oil recipe mask that you smooth over your hair and it can look this good. Yes and yes. I need to do something to fix this mess of a mop on top of my head.
 Here is how everything started...

Gross right? Here we go!

First, you need some eggs. Which I think I had some of....and apparently Bud Light too.

Then I separated the egg yolks just as it says.

Then came the Olive oil (I only had extra virgin olive oil so that's what I used)

This is the icky mixture after the cup of water and mixing. Doesn't look like anything but give it a try by scooping it on my hair over the tub. Then squeezed the excess and let sit for 15 minutes.

Excuse the goofy face. I think I was non too pleased with the result.

After playing with eggs, wasting olive oil and making a mess in the bathroom, the mixture DID NOT work. You can still the same frizz in my hair and it looks exactly the same as when I started. Just have a slight egg smell to my hair. Attractive.

Maybe the regular olive oil would have been better. Or I didn't mix well. I just don't know. If you know what I did wrong because this has worked for you please let me know! Otherwise, I won't ever be wasting anymore eggs in my hair.

Now that I have that over with I am more inspired to complete more pins and I challenge you to the same! It's a weird sense of hey I pinned it and actually did something with it. Trust me.

Can't wait until I try my next pin!

Bang Bang Bangssss

Thursday, August 19, 2010

That's right, I am now the proud owner of a forehead of BANGS.

They came to be when I took a trip to the hairdresser and asked for the usual side bangs. When asked if the length was right before she cut, I replied yes. But apparently I was mistaken. I soon realized side bangs were not meant to be. So I went with it and made them in to straight across bangs.

Everything happens for a reason, right? Well I guess I was meant to have these awesome bangs. That's right I said awesome. They have grown on me and if they make me look older I'm in. They are a touch high maintenance and it is really easy to tell my lazy or rushed days because they get pinned back but all in all I can't complain.

Bangs are so drastic I would of never had the guts to walk into the hairdresser and tell her to give me bangs. So God helped me along my way. And I think they are here to stay. Plus, according to this article the bangs are proven to make me more sophisticated wiser. It is a win, win.

"Adding any kind of face-framing pieces to the style you have makes it much more flattering to your features and a whole lot sexier," says Oscar Blandi, the NYC stylist and salon owner
