Fall Must Haves on a Budget

Wednesday, September 17, 2014

As we are almost full into fall mode, it is time to update the fall wardrobe. There is just something about sweaters, boots, fall basics that makes you all warm and cozy.

Updating your wardrobe doesn't have to cost a fortune. Especially because if you're anything like me, we are on a budget to save, save, save. So my wardrobe and fall update can't include any brand names.

However, it doesn't mean I still can't look fab this fall.

Fall Must Haves on a Budget

1. Denim Legging-Target / As fall hits, I live in my denim leggings and skinny jeans. These Target ones are my absolute favorite. So comfortable and come in different washes.

2. Green satchel handbag-Target / Every season needs a new handbag. And I am loving on this hunter green satchel from Target. It's roomy and has the buckle accent.

3. Oversize Sweater-The Red Dress Boutique / Leggings, over sized sweater, pumpkin spice in my hand. My picture of a perfect fall day. And outfit.

4. Ballet Flat-Target / With the skinny jeans and denim leggings, you have to pair it with the perfect ballet flat. I am loving on these leopard flats from Sam & Libby at Target. I mean, the bow, print, just perfection.

5. Anorak Jacket- Target / When the middle of October nears, you might need to start grabbing a light jacket before you head out the door. This one has recently caught my eye and will definitely be a part of my fall wardrobe.

6. Infinity Scarf-Target  Can anyone have too many scarves? The answer is no. And fall is the perfect time to introduce new ones to your wardrobe. The perfect accessory.

7. Women's Favorite Button Down Shirt-Target / One of my favorite parts of fall wardrobe is the addition of plaid. Being a country girl, my Grandpa, uncles lived in their plaid coats and shirts when going out during brisk, fall nights.

8. Basic Tee-Body Central Basic Tee. Can be thrown under any cardigan, jean jacket and paired with denim leggings, skinny jeans and leggings. Must have for your wardrobe.

9. Denim Jacket Light Denim- Target / As I mentioned, pairs perfectly with a maxi dress, maxi skirt or even jeans. Perfect accessory when it's just not cold enough for a full jacket yet.

10. Maxi Dress -The Red Dress Boutique / Just because we have entered fall doesn't mean the maxi dress has got to go back in the with the summer clothes. You can still wear it, just pairing it with a light sweater or denim jacket. I love that this has a fall worthy floral print on it.

What are your favorite fall items for your wardrobe?

My Oscars Two Cents

Monday, February 25, 2013

The Oscars are over and as we are all nursing our Oscar Hangovers, you get to hear all about my favorites and not so fabulous moments.

Starting with the fashion of course

Can Reese Witherspoon ever do
wrong? Classic curled hair
completes the look.
Strong, beautiful Robin Roberts.
An inspiration.
My Wins
What a gorgeous color on Maria
Menunos. Paired with the perfect
accessories. Lip gloss included.

Look at this 9 year old cutie!
Cheering herself on from the
seats.
Simple color. Daring form on
Jennifer Lawrence.

Some critics were saying prom
dress. I say coral chic on Kerry
Washington.

Some said too plain for
Jennifer Aniston but the color
really pops on her.
White Dior looks amazing on
Charlize Theron.  Nice chunky
diamond bracelet.

Can I not age like Jane Fonda?

Jamie Foxx lookin' fly. And now
every guy wants his daughter.
True Story.
Chris Evans looking quite
dapper. And with a little scruff
Very nice.

Bradley Cooper trying the
slicked back look. And on the
arm of his mama.

Favorite Couples

Channing Tatum such a proud
papa cradling the baby on his
wife.
"I'm a puddle."
-Jennifer Garner as she teared
up talking about her hubby
and his possible win.

My Not So Favorites

Amanda Seyfried tried for
glamour but to me those are
palm trees.

Kristen Stewart was late and
she just had too much of a plain
look. Hair brush needed.
Brandi Glanville. Train wreck.
Too much makeup. Too much
funky boobage area.

Pick the ruffles or the belt.
Both seemed overwhelming.
Nice detail on the train though.
Melissa Mcarthy wore this
dress that resembled more of a
sheet pinned together with a
few sparkle pins.
Nicole Kidman's hair looks more
like bed chic rather than red
carpet chic.

Everyone raved about this
dress on Adele but it was too
flashy for me. And didn't
accentuate any of her curves.
Selma Hayek's figure? Gorgeous.
The dress? Awkward halter.
But a thumbs up for the hair
and tiara. I did like!

My Favorite Moments

Paul Rudd faceplanting into the microphone

The Jaws music to get the winners off the stage. Oh yeah, sure. Adults are scared.

Channing Tatum dancing.  Although I would have preferred less clothing.

Scandal Commercial. Nashville Commercial

Avengers Assemble!

Ted appeared on the Oscars. Yes, that happened.

Seth McFarlane saying, "Really? I thought we killed this joke. Ok." Then says a bad joke comparing Ben Affleck's beard to a Kardashian.

Making a joke about John Wilkes booth and Abraham Lincoln.."Oh, I guess 150 years is too soon."

** I do apologize for the junky editing...clearly I am still learning and after an hour attempt I let it be. So if you know what I did or how I can fix it let me know:)

Miracle Moisturizing Jeans:Thanks Wrangler

Friday, January 18, 2013

"Gee golly whiz....why ISN'T there jeans that can moisturize my bum and regions for me?! And better yet reduce my cellulite! That would be so nifty!"

Or that's at least what Wrangler thought women everywhere were saying to themselves. Because they will be  releasing "Wrangler Denim Spa" on January 28th. Yup, you heard it right.

Apparently these beauties are offered in 3 different styles and "are infused with one of three soothing ingredients: Aloe Vera, Olive Extract or special formula Smooth Legs," according to the Asos.com web site where they're available.

And what could be cheaper than a spa session? Wearing these jeans for just $136. But I hardly doubt it's better than a nice spa session. (Going off what I've heard..) And add that to all the expensive lotions and creams you have in your bathroom cabinet meant to work moisturizing miracles and you have a small fortune ready.

Oh, and there's more.

Let me talk about the Smooth Legs. It claims "to reduce the appearance of cellulite." Doesn't every expensive cream on the market? What would make us believe that a pair of jeans will do anything for us after all the creams we have tried have failed? Oh, and docs say in order to see any effect from these, you would have to wear them 28 days in a row. Lovely.

Sadly, some bad news....the moisturizing agent won't last forever in the jeans. They claim 15 wears without washing...Good luck with that dirty jean thing. And if you are actually hygienic and wash your jeans more than twice a month, you will be required to purchase a separate spray to reload your jeans to rub off on your goods.

And to add insult to this crazy injury? Mick Jagger's daughter is the spokesperson...someone who says her cellulite was reduced from wearing the jeans. Raise your hand if you think there was any there in the first place.

I for one will stick to my Olay moisturizing lotion. It works just fine when used how people use lotion. I don't need it on my jeans.

Is it me or is this just crazy town??
