15 years ago, it was 1999.

It was the year when Britney Spears spent 32 weeks as Number 1 on Billboard Top 100 for Baby One More Time. That song reminds of personal radios with cassettes. Rewind, play. Rewind, play again.

Before her CD was released I would sit by the radio ready to hit record so I could replay it on my cassette over and over.  Feel free to reminisce won't you?

She was the innocent Britney. The Britney before the shaved head days. When she wore matching jean outfits with Justin Timberlake and young girls everywhere were freaking out over all her songs. Guilty as charged.

I was the awkward age of 12. I was 6 months before my teenage years, just started to see the sprout of fresh acne on my face. My hair. Well, my hair. It's the years you kind of say, "What was I thinking?"

Old Navy was the what all the cool kids were wearing. Mostly because it had just opened in my one floor, tiny spec of a mall. It was a hit. The only thing I wanted to wear was something that had "Old Navy & Co." plastered across the front.

It was the year I refused to wear glasses any longer. Literally. I thought it was cool to squint all day to get my way. I mean, it did work. But what a brat. Now, I would give anything to have better glasses to wear more. Cycle of life.

I played the clarinet and chose band as my extracurricular activity. Made it to first chair (code: really the best) before I decided, I was just too cool to be in the band. Still have that clarinet floating around. Because you never know when I might want to bust out a tune. *thanks for no pictures of these, fam.*


And it just so happens, I revisited this time period my senior of college. School girl, chair dance, Baby One More Time. Cest la vie. Am I right?

The Superbowl Half Time Shows of Past

As everyone is gearing up for the big tomorrow, be it buying cases of beer, scouring Pinterest

 for fun football themed recipes or trying to find out all the commercials you might be seeing, I think it's about time to reminisce on half time shows of past...

One of my personal favorites. N'Sync, Britney and Aerosmith killed it! In my loose definition of killed it. Then you ad Britney Spears, Mary J. Blige, and Nelly. Rockin' it. 

Ok, I'm a Disney fan and all but ehhhh for the 2000 Super Bowl. I do enjoy a good Disney song and Phill Collins. Just might not have been the best platform for this performance. 

Last year's was awkward. Madonna, Nikki Minaj, Madonna has pom poms? Without all the theatrics and just Madonna, I think it would have been amazing. Ending was proof she could have carried the whole set. 

Went into the archivs for this one. Since they seem to be trying to make a comeback..New Kids on the Block sang their love song to a bunch of oddly dressed toddlers back in 1991. 

This was just tough to watch and listen to in 2011. "The Black Eyed Peas" took the stage in light up outfits, surrounded by glow in the dark people. Confused yet? Well, their voices and melodies didn't actually carry the outfits. They all seemed a bit off. Thought it would be a hit but it was a disappointment.

And the best for last... no one can forge this 2004 Super Bowl Half Time Show. And a show we got. The infamous "wardrobe malfunction" Let's be serious, we didn't catch on to "JT" or the "malfunction." 

For this year's, it is predicted Beyonce will have no trouble becoming one of the best half time performers. But you can't help but know wonder if Destiny's Child will make their first appearance in almost ten years. 

Or if Beyonce will lip sync.

Last we, me and you, will ever see. Sad to hear we will not be there in a hundred years. Even though they keep saying it won't happen until January 1, 3001. Um, what happened to January 1, 2101?? Even though it's not technical, still counts in my book. Still use the last two numbers. Just sayin'

Amazeballs. Humbling. Touching. Wonderful. So many talented, courageous people in one room. And all to help the people of New Jersey and New York. Just pure awesome.

Aka. #Brady121212. 

Obviously love me some Tom Brady. And love that he has the number 12. And that he was named AFC Offensive Player of the Week for a standout performance on Monday Night Football.

Aka. The 12th. 

Both a glorious day and gloomy day. The 12th of February I was blessed with securing a very fine mate who will become my hubby in 6 months (glorious) 

The 12th of January, the most important person in my life, my best friend, my mother was taken from me and sent to Heaven. My heart has since been filled with a dreadful whole.
But that same year on the 12th....I was given the wonderful news that this little precious baby would be mine the very next day.

So me and the 12th, definitely a love/hate relationship we got going on here. 

And this was my 12/12/12 present from Dunkin Donuts. Yummm!

What do you stand for?

Some nights, I stay up cashing in my bad luck
Some nights, I call it a draw

For some reason I really love this song. People either hate it or love it. I am the latter. It's the lyrics that I kind of just say, yea, to. 

We all ask the question to ourselves sometimes. What do we stand for?

As we enter the presidential election, I think this is a huge topic. It matters what most you stand for and what matters to you. (PS. I'm not trying to get into a political debate here, it's a fact.)

You might stand more for Pro choice or Pro Life. That makes your decision. Or perhaps you are Pro Big Bird. All of the biggest issues and concerns for you are what you turn to when you are ready to choose your next president. When you are ready to mark your vote. 

But this is something you have to think about when you were watching these presidential debates, watching the anti "this person" commercials and reading all the articles abut what the other ones objectives are. What do you stand for? What direction do you want this country to go in? What are the issues you take a stand against and will not accept a president that supports these?

Or let's just think about everyday life. What do you stand for? 

I stand for social media therefore, freedom of speech, the New York Yankees, etiquette and manners, proper grammar, good friends, good life, wine, for the fact that hard work should be rewarded and not the other option, beef (all kinds), against cancer and utilizing all opportunities to have a dance party.

I think it's important for a person to establish what matters most to them. The things that they will stand for and stand up for in their lives. It helps make them the person they are everyday and gives them a purpose. It drives you to where you go and what you are meant to be doing. It can also drive this country in the right direction. At least, let's hope.

 And you won't get out of me which way I'm going. I do not enter into debates or conflict. Makes me crazy. 

But what is important is knowing what you stand for and making a choice on Tuesday, election day. Exercise your right to vote and have your say in what direction this country is going. Say you will vote. You will have a voice.

Musical Grey's Anatomy?!

I know there are people saying they didn't like it but I really enjoyed it! It made the drama that much more intense and Sara Ramirez has an excellent voice.

All the songs were previous songs featured in Grey's Anatomy. She started with the opening song of Grey's which was very clever. "How We Operate" was from the episode when Denny was being operated on for his heart.

"The Story" was first featured on the music for Grey's Anatomy special. It was then played again when Private Practice started. 

"Runnin on Sunshine" was played during the time Meredith told Derek and the vet that she just wanted to date. Commence them vying for her love. 

There were definitely more fan favorites and I can't wait to download the songs on ITunes.

That's what I want to do with this song right now. I don't know why. It was on the radio and I just jammed out and now I just want to keep playing it and singing so loud. Maybe it's the words, maybe it just goes with life right now. But all I know is I will be singing this in my room for awhile.So I hope you enjoy it

Britney Spears has broken the record for the biggest first-week sales tally for a song by a female solo artist!! (411,000 copies!) 

The song? Amazing. Oh you want the title? Sure.

"Hold It Against Me"

This honor was previously held by Taylor Swift with her song," Today was a Fairytale." Such a great song too. But I am so happy that Britney's song broke records. I have always loved Britney. Yes, even through the shaved head days. Everyone has a crisis now and again, hers was just splashed on everyones television. On a side note to that: So glad K. Fed was kicked to the curb. Is he still a chunky monkey?

Anywhooo, congrats to Britney Spearssss!! She hasn't stopped kicking booty since the days of "Hit me Baby One More Time" with pigtails and bangs. She even surpassed her own personal record of first week sales with "Womanizer" back in 2008, which sold 303,000 copies.

I know you are all waiting to hear the new song since it is obviously so awesome so here it is 

CARRIE. UNDERWOOD.

It started 5 years ago when she made her way into a room with Simon Cowell on American Idol. I voted for her every week. literally. Loved her singing and voice and just her.

Then she won American Idol and oh man. I seriously love her. I have wanted to see her since that very moment. I watch her on every American Idol finale, every awards show and any other place she might be. She has always has a down to earth attitude and her voice is amazing. Oh and she is absolutely gorgeousssss.

This past birthday my boyfriend made my dream come true. He got me tickets to her concert. omgosh omgosh omgoshhhh. yup that was my similar reaction

The concert was this past weekend and I can't believe I have waited until now to share my obsession.AMAZINGAMAZINGAMAZINGAMAZINGAMAZINGAMAZINGAMAZINGAMAZINGAMAZINGAMAZINGAMAZING

And that doesn't even do it justice. She had amazing backdrops for every single song. Which there were 23 that she performed by the way. Carrie flew over the crowd in a blue pick up truck singing "Country Roads Take Me Home," the Grand Ole Opry was there that included a recording of Randy Travis. She had about 10 costume changes and looked wonderful in each one. And I can't forget there was a light up dress. That's right her dress was a screen that played during her song "Change."



I was seriously like a little kid. Just...wow.

She is one of the artists where majority of her songs remind me of a time in my life because they describes everything that a person goes through.

One of her newer songs, "Mama's Song," really does make me emotional. At the concert she had pictures of her and her mom in the background and it definitely reminds me of me and my mom and the special bond we had.

All in all Carrie Underwood is my all time favorite. No question about it and saturday night was a dream come true.

Oh and I even got a pretty sweet shirt
