5 Ways to Kick the Winter Blues

Friday, February 27, 2015

If you're over the cold, snow & winter, raise your hand. My guess is that more than half of the country has their hand raised. We are entering into the dreaded part of the year where we just want winter to be over. Spring cannot come soon enough.

As we await the awakening of spring and continue to curse the season that is winter, there are just 5 simple things I think you can do to kick the winter blues.

// Check up on Your Resolutions

Remember those goals and resolutions you made just a few months ago? How are they going? More than likely there is something on there that you could be doing better on. If it's eating healthy, cooking will keep you occupied. If it's being more intentional with your time, spend a day out with friends and family.

// Get moving

This could be anything from running on the treadmill, taking a Zumba class or enjoying a winter activity like skiing. If you are in a place and able to run outside right now ebcause you aren;t in sub zero temperatures, go for that. Although, I no longer want to see any of your warm pictures and being all I'm outside in the sunshine all warm nonsense.

// Get Started on Your Spring Cleaning

If you have to be inside, might as well be productive while you're at it. Clean out those closets and declutter. Start making room for your new spring wardrobe. Scour Pinterest on the best cleaning tips for your bathroom. Get all of this done before the weather gets warm so you can go out and play!

// Bring Color into Your Home

It might not be spring outside, but you can make the inside of your home just a little bit warmer with the looks of spring. Start to add some color inside your home. The bright colors will instantly put you in a better mood. Grab some flowers from your local farmer's market or grocery store. Just seeing them bloom on your kitchen table or i your living room will remind you spring is coming.

// Dance it out

There isn't very much that a good dance party can't cure. Feel free to grab that hair brush and really get into it. Nothing relaxes me more than a good time dancing like I am one of Pitbull's back up dancers. Have you seen my Instagram dance party yet?

I am convinced that we if we all do these and kick the winter blues goodbye, mother nature will reward us with spring in the very future. What do you think?

Saw It. Pinned It. Did It. V-Day Edition

Friday, February 15, 2013

ok, So I'm a day late and a dollar short butttt here's my {Thursday} Saw It. Pinned It. Did it.

Since I had off on Valentine's Day I knew I wanted to do a breakfast for the fiance before he headed off to work. (If I'm working, I'm already at work when he gets up in the morning)

Cue in this pin

How cute are these?!

So I looked for the heart pan that didn't cost more than a fortune of a dollar...and to no avail. So I utilized another pin I have seen...

What you need
-Heart Shaped pan.. or the alternative
-Bread
-Butter
-Eggs (smaller if you can)
-Bacon

Cut up the bread in a circle...or heart shaped in my case.

Butter up the one side.

Cut them in half; then shove in the cupcake tray. I suggest making a deep whole.

Meanwhile, cook the bacon for a couple of minutes...not the whole way. It will cook in the oven.

Add them to the top of the bread.

Then add the eggs on top..some of mine ran over. That is why I suggest you mush a deep hole with the bread.

Through it in the oven at 375 degrees for 20 minutes and voila! A yummy treat.

**Let's just say it tasted yummy, but the heart didn't show up all that well and the bread stuck.

I clearly need better photography skills..

Nemo, Just Keep Snowing, Snowing.

Saturday, February 9, 2013

Nemo hit us last night, not nearly as much as some people fared up in CT and NY. A good 4 inches or so out there on the ground.

But we decided to have a snowed in Friday night...even ventured out for a little snow walk.

Might have even saw a raccoon cross out paths..or an opossum. Not sure which but definitely not a cat.

Enjoy your snow filled weekend!

What if we all did our jobs how weathermen do theirs?

Would anything actually get done?

"I will be approximately done with the report sometime between Tuesday and Friday. I might know more if you ask me tomorrow."

This is about the 5th storm of the season here in the Northeast and it seems that the weather reporting is becoming more and more vague. I know that storms move blah blah blah but seriously already. Give a timeframe and amount. How do I know whether I can make plans for tomorrow if they still aren't saying when it is coming?  You get these kind of headlines.

NJ weather remains frosty with more snow possible later this week

Forecasters waffling on snowfall amounts

ALERT: Snow storm expected

Oh wait, update. It will now be here from sometime mid morning afternoon Wednesday to sometime in the day Thursday. Yea, thanks. That really helps.

Maybe all this bitterness is actually from the snow, ice and literally below freezing temperatures but it really makes you think about how much weathermen get away with. They can say there is 8 inches of snow coming and then we get none and it is ok. It is not considered a mistake. Can they actually make a mistake? Pretty sure the answer is no.

Don't get me wrong, I do appreciate the work that they do provide. Temperature wise. Just see a downward trend on how the weather stations work and [predict weather. You think it would get better and more precise because of all the technology. But I'm no weatherman.

That's my rant for now. Enjoy the snow, how ever much we are getting!

December has arrived!

Wednesday, December 1, 2010

Well, we have come to another month. And not just any month, but December. The last month of the year 2010 *sigh*

But yay! December is a great month. It has Christmas and my birthday! Not a big birthday person but still fun.

It also brings snow and frigid air, also known as winter. Let's just say that I am NOT a big fan of.

All the holidays are coming full speed ahead, so are you ready? I know I still have a few presents left to get and furthermore, decide upon.

The there are the inevitable New Year resolutions. Have to figure out what I am going to attempt to do or accomplish. Hmm such a toughie every year.

There is so much hustle and bustle this time of year that everyone forgets to live the last month of the year up. A whole year is about to be gone. Everyone should say goodbye properly and take time to drink it all up.

So what are your plans, resolutions? I'll get back to you on mine.
