Sunday Social: Movies

Sunday, June 17, 2012

Found this cute link-up from Jade at An Organized Mess. It's a Sunday Social! Basically a few questions you get to answer about yourself. So make sure to link-up with Neely at A Complete Waste of Makeup to join in on the fun!

Favorite Movie of All Time?
Tricky, tricky. Only because my movie collection looks like this.
Yes, I love my movies so it might be hard to pick just one. But I love It's a Wonderful Life and Sweet Home Alabama.

Favorite Movie Quote?
Again a toughie, love too many! But here are a few faves.
"You tell them that our lives can change with every breath we take... and you tell them to hold on like hell to what they've got. Each other, and a mother who would die for them and almost did... You tell them we've all got bad in us, but we've got goodness, too. And the only thing worth living for is the good. And that's why we've got to make sure we pass it on." Where the Heart Is
Do you also go around telling small children that Santa Claus doesn't exist? 'Cause someone needs to blow that ship wide open." -27 Dresses
Best movies for a girl's night?
Easy.

etc., etc.

Best breakup movie?
Forgetting Sarah Marshall. Or He's Just not that Into You.
Favorite celeb eye candy?
Need I say more?
Which stars closet would you like to raid?

Carrie Underwood
From casual to glam this girl knows how to rock it. And maybe with the wardrobe I could get the legs in there somewhere too.

And of course a Happy Father's Day to all the dads out there including mine! and uncles and cousins and friends!

Happy Friday!

Friday, April 27, 2012

Happy Friday everyone! My kind of Friday today.

I am linking up with from my grey desk for a high five for Friday! Basically, just being super thankful it's Friday and all the great things that happened in your week.

1.Let's start of with an obvious...this awesome new blog design! I am so glad to be back and think I will really be able to connect with other bloggers on this site. (What the heck took me so long?!) Can't wait to keep sprucing it up

2. My very productive day off Tuesday. Was able to get some cleaning done and just relax. AND I got to listen to Carrie Underwood's new album all day on iTunes. Ahhh days off.

3. New glasses! After approximately 5 years, I know have glasses that are my prescription and I can actually see out of! A momentous occasion indeed. (Picture to follow when I am actually at my best)

4. Finally got a new camera! This beauty is in my possession and I am so happy.

I have felt so lost since my other one lost it's life Christmas Eve when it dropped to the floor. The dual view is my absolute favorite and was so useful on our last vacation. It is so easy to use too!

5. One week until The Avengers! Yes, I am so excited to see this. No, I can't explain it.

Everyone have a wonderful weekend!

I loved her in "The Notebook" and as the bitch in "Mean Girls."
I loved him from his CSI: Miami start (if you don't know about my CSI: Miami obsession...) and then went to "Step Up"...when I thought I could be that good (if you don't know my obsession with dancing...)

And all in all, I loveeee my romantic, cheesy comedies. I LOVE love. what can I say. This is an adorable true life story (or true life events, either way). Defintely a love and must see.

So all I must say is...who will see this with me? Because let's be serious. I really would rather not drag my fiance to this.

Oh Netflix

Monday, September 19, 2011

It is more than time for me to give my two sense into this whole Netflix situation. Especially after the email I received from Netflix's own CEO.

It went a little something like this...
"I messed up. I owe you an explanation.

It is clear from the feedback over the past two months that many members felt we lacked respect and humility in the way we announced the separation of DVD and streaming and the price changes. That was certainly not our intent, and I offer my sincere apology. Let me explain what we are doing.
So we realized that streaming and DVD by mail are really becoming two different businesses, with very different cost structures, that need to be marketed differently, and we need to let each grow and operate independently.

It’s hard to write this after over 10 years of mailing DVDs with pride, but we think it is necessary: In a few weeks, we will rename our DVD by mail service to “Qwikster”. We chose the name Qwikster because it refers to quick delivery. We will keep the name “Netflix” for streaming."

To summarize...the Netflix we have grown to love will now be Qwikster and the Netflix will only apply to the streaming protion. Two different businesses. Two different websites. Two different ques.

The question being...why would I want to have this hassle of having to access two different sites instead of the one? Oh, Netflix/Qwikster you did not think this through.

Their estimated subscribers dropped 10,000 in the last month...I have a feeling it will go down even more after this announcement. I will be one of them.

Guilty Pleasure

....Cheesy Romantic Comedies. Some of my favorites are

Currently I am watching The Wedding Planner. Girl happens to find a guy that is engaged. She wins him over and he breaks off his engagement with his longtime girlfriend because he is madly in love with the new woman. *Sigh*

This genre of movie makes of the majority of my movie collection and I am no ashamed at all (ok maybe there are a few titles that I might hide towards the back...) These movies have helped me through bf issues, life issues, school issues, stress, etc. etc. It transports you to a time where this man actually exists. And I can guarantee it is true for any woman that watches these movies.

It's the man that does the cheesiest, romantic things because he loves the woman that a normal real life man won't do. He says all the right thing and makes your heart leap. Maybe it does happen once in a blue moon but if these were true life there wouldn't be Cosmo articles dedicated to these various topics.

Movies like this transport you to a different place. You know it isn't real but it's ok for that hour and a half to pretend it can actually happen. That place is also where your real life troubles don't exist. Kind of like reality tv but trust me, much better. And as a quote fiend, the romantic quotes just, well, there's no words.

So I will continue to pop in these chick flicks as part of my daily viewing. Either for pick me ups or enjoyable viewing.

Today, October 5, 2010, is a very special day. Not only is it the most common day for a birthday (yea it's been studied) BUT it is also the day Beauty and the Beast is released on DVD and Blu-Ray!!!

Now we need to back up to understand my full obsession with this movie and more specifically, Belle. I was given this movie as a Christmas present and it was love at first watch. I got to name a new dog and I chose Beauty. Belle was my favorite princess and I wanted to be her. She was brunette and read books. And plus side..it had a great moral.

Unfortunately, toys weren't as extensive back then as they were today but when there was Belle available I got it. And it never stopped. My mom always got my little trinkets with Belle. Puzzles, hair accessories you name it, I have or had it. Disney World was a bust though. Never did get my picture with Belle *sigh* But I will never give up!

Everyone close to me is well aware of my slight obsession with Belle. Sorority nickname was LittleBelle. Character on my family tree? Yup, Belle. Recent Christmas present from my friend, Lenox Belle. It is true you are always young in your heart. I will always be young and girly with my Belle and princesses.

2012 I will probably be first in line when Disney World opens the new addition to Fantasyland, the Beauty nad the Beast castle!!! And even a restaurant. Um, yea. In case you need to know all about it like me, click here.

Ok enough babble. Time to buy Beauty and the Beast. Bye!!

-Tale as old as time, True as it can be, Barely even friends, Then someone bends, unexpectedly. Just a little change, small to say the least, neither one prepared, Beauty and the Beast.-

TOY STORY 3 IS OUT TODAY!!! IN 3D!!!

Clearly I am ecstatic about this and a kid at heart. But come on, who doesn't love Toy Story?

I was the wee little age of 8 when the first one came out and I was in love. Especially those cute little aliens in the claw. And I thought Sid was the absolute worst. It was the introduction of Woody and Buzz. How they started off as enemies but soon became best of friends. Truly a great moral for an 8 year old. Mom took me to see that movie and it was definitely a love

Then 4 years later it was back. Toy Story 2. Andy is off to summer camp and the toys are left behind for their own crazy adventure. Woody learns who he was and Buzz meets his newer model. A close escape lands them back home in Andy's room with new recruits, Jessie and Bullseye. I did not see this in the theater because at age 12 I wasn't sure if the childish movie was appropriate for a very grown up 12 year old. But I definitely saw it with my younger cousin when he watched it on VHS (!)

Now here we are 11 years later and the Toy Story craze has taken over. Target, along with many other stores, are carrying every kind of Toy Story 3 themed merchandise. Including a $150 Buzz Lightyear. Yes, you read that right. $150. And no it doesn't fly as I had assumed for it to cost that much.

Technology has definitely changed from the last movie and it seems as Andy goes to college the toys are finding a new home. It is shown in the preview the dinosaur is talking about an instant message she received from a male dinosaur down the street. Then of course is the fact that it is in 3D when in 99 it was barely even thought about.

Hopefully I will be with everyone else Friday night, in my 3D glasses watching Buzz Lightyear and Woody! I'll leave you with a nice preview.
