Friday's Letters & Hawaiian #backthatazzup

Friday, June 28, 2013

Well hello!

Just popping in to give a little Friday's letters update. It's definitely been a little while and I can't wait to get back into the groove of things.

Dear husband-Love you so. smooch smooch.

Dear apartment-One year down, {hopefully}just one more to go. With all this new fun stuff, we are pushing our space limits. Hence why I have been pinning all kinds of house things.

Dear new Blog readers- Welcome! I promise you will see more of a regular schedule soon. Trying to adjust life as a newlywed and organize this apartment. But I am so glad you're here!

Dear wedding pictures-We are impatiently waiting for you. I know you look amazing. Just want to be able to see you already!

Dear Hawaii-I miss you and your gorgeous weather and gorgeous beaches and relaxed atmosphere.
So Friday's jam is brought to you by me missing Hawaii. Some Jack Johnson Hawaii-fied
And yes, they actually have Hawaiian versions of songs that we heard on the radio on our drives through Hawaii. Bliss I tell ya.

How long did you have to wait for wedding pictures? Were you just as impatient as me??
Have a fabulous weekend!

Our Love Story: College Years

Monday, June 17, 2013

Looking back on how far our love grew in college is amazing. We had our ups and downs but through it all we managed to nurture our love and grow even stronger.

We were both a part of Greek life and get to call our brothers and sisters some of our closest friends today.

And what better way to reminisce then through pictures!

Our Love Story: Officially in Love

Friday, June 14, 2013

You can fine part one here
 And part two here.

Brian and I became official on February 12, 2006. It was after a week of not talking to each other and I was seriously missing him. And the good best friend that she is...made me realize it was because I had feelings for him.

So we talked it out, he felt the same way, some drinks later and there you have it.

We spent our first few days on dates going to the mall and adjusting to being in a relationship. Two days after was obviously Valentines Day and he was the best Valentine I had ever had.

Even though we were just beginning our relationship, he put so much effort into the day I knew he was a keeper. I was out at the mall with my friend and she kept asking when I was seeing Brian that day. I kept saying Oh, later. Because that is what we had planned. She then kept saying ok, well maybe we should go back now. It was around 3 or 4. When I returned to my room, I realized why.

Brian was already there, with roses and the cutest bear. He had talked to my roommate to be let in and got Steph to take me to the mall but also make sure I was back in time. He even made the room pink with one of my shirts over the lamp. We then ordered food in and watched a movie. It was such a nice first Valentine's Day.

The next 3 months we were pretty much obsessed with each other. We spent so much time together and fell quickly in love. Saying our goodbyes for the summer away I will always remember how hard it was. I never would have guessed coming into my freshmen year that I would meet someone so soon that would mean so much to me.

That summer we finally uttered our I Love you's and I traveled many hours back and forth just to see him.

Stay tuned for more from our college days!

Becoming a Wife

Thursday, June 13, 2013

Right now I am relaxing on the beaches of Hawaii with a large drink in my someone's wife.

I am a wife.

I am in a marriage.

Your wedding day is something you look forward to your whole life. The dress, the place, the atmosphere. But what happens after is something many people do not think about.

The marriage you have entered into, that you have to nurture and maintain.

What happens when me becomes we?

Obviously, the question arrises in my head, will I be a good wife? Will I be what Brian is expecting and wanting from a wife?

And how can I do that, become everything he wants in a wife, without losing who I am in the process?

For me, it means letting go of it being just me. My mom raised me to be very independent and make decisions on my own and face the consequences. That's how I learned. I was never given a curfew or told no. That is very much a part of who I am but I know it's a part I have to work on. I have to remember I am no longer making decisions for myself. They involved my husband. My family.

I am going to have to do things I don't want to do but HAVE to do them because I am married. That will take some getting used to because I go here and there and do what I want when I want. Not anymore. Time to tame the independent gal.

It also means I have to become more financially responsible. I have no idea how to budget and save my money. I pay my bills and spend my money daily but I do not keep track of where my money is going and what I could save by not buying certain things. If I want that nice house to live my MILF life, I have got to take charge of my spending. We now have our money. I definitely do not want to spend my husband's money frivolously. I do want to learn the right way to budget and spend.

Marriage also means putting in the time and effort to make a beautiful marriage. Many people go into marriage thinking it might be so easy. Thinking it's an easy transition from engaged to marry. I know that it mostly will be easy. We already live together, have gotten over that hump but there is the marriage stuff that we will still have to work through everyday.

I have no idea how to be a wife. He has no idea how to be a husband. But we do know that we are so excited to be on this ride together!

Get ready for the ride as we try to figure it out!

Our Love Story: The Falling

Wednesday, June 12, 2013

If you missed Part 1, you can read it here.

So, these two kids were in their freshmen year of college when they met.

After meeting that Halloween night, we definitely saw a lot more of each other as I spent a ton of time in Steph's room, Brian's neighbor.

We had many AIM conversations and I would come back from class with a ton of funny messages waiting even though my away message was up. His favorite was rubbing in the fact that I hated oranges and would always bring it up.

When we were hanging out, we had a lot of fun together. Joked around, laughed, he would even grab the phone while I was talking to my mom and joke around with her. I thought it was us becoming good friends. I was used to having close guy friends. For him, he was crushin..hehe

It took a couple of people to tell me that he was even interested in me. As I said I was used to close guy friends. I was however, not there yet. To me he was just a close friend that I enjoyed talking to and having a good time.

But that didn't stop him from trying with me.

"Just friends"

During that winter break, my mom ended up in the hospital in Florida and he was the person I was texting the most. Then add in a fight where we weren't talking for a week and my chatty best friend Steph and we both were finally at the right place.

Stay gets better!

Our Love Story: The Beginning

Monday, June 10, 2013

What better time to give you a run down of how me and the Mr, met then when we are blissfully unaware of the outside world on our honeymoon?

Meet Krista.

She entered college with a carefree attitude that was excited and nervous about the new change in her life. Her dorm was the "smart people" dorm that no one really had fun in. So she frequented her best friends dorm..Olson. And I meant, after class that's where she went. Before class, that's where she was.

Well, as luck would have it, caddy corner to Steph's room with the bathroom a mere divider, there lived a boy named Brian.

Brian would start to talk to Steph here and there but him and Krista never crossed paths until the night of Hallows Eve. Or Halloween as the less dramatic call it. And for visuals...this is how they both looked they first night they officially "met."

And to think after this guy rode in the back of Krista's car the first night she met him, her looking like that, it led to love.

Stay tuned for Part 2 on just how it became love...

We did it!

Wedding Wednesday: It's Like Rain on Your Wedding Day

Wednesday, June 5, 2013

Let me start off by saying, I can not believe the day is here where this is my last Wedding Wednesday post. Almost a two year engagement has led to this time and I am just so excited and overwhelmed that it is finally all coming together.

One of the many reasons I love blogging is just for this. I was able to put into words the majority of my wedding planning experience and questions and ideas. It will always be there for me to look back on and reflect.

And now enough with the deep thoughts. I have an actual last wedding Wednesday post

rain on your wedding day...isn't it ironic?

Pulling out a little Alanis to ease myself of the fact the forecast looks like this for my wedding day...

No bride dreams of rain on their wedding day. And all you already been brides who had beautiful weather telling me it's good can kindly shut it. And I mean that in the nicest way possible.

BEcause we all know, every bride wants that beautiful day and that bride saying those words would be just as upset as I am. I did shed a few tears. It's just my day has always been a beautiful garden, nice sunshine. Plus, what makes our venue gorgeous is the outside where we would be getting married and our guests would be having cocktail hour. It's hard to let that go, especially since plan B involves me walking down the stairs to enter my ceremony. Nightmares about falling anyone?

But then I put my big girl pants on and turned to Pinterest and Google to gather up some rainy day pictures.

Because if mother nature is going to give us a big Eff you, I'll give it right back and have fun with it. So I have my rain boots ready, bridesmaids requested to bring umbrellas, we have our large black umbrella and I am going to get some cute pictures if it means anything.

And let's hope ours look this good..

So brides, did it rain on your wedding day? What did you do to embrace it?

Decided on a little Sunday Social today since it's been a little while.

1. What is your favorite social media outlet?
Confession: I love Instagram and I have an Instagram butttt I do not own an iPhone...I use my iPod. Oh boy.  Hey, it's the poor girls alternative to keep up with all the fun! I love that it allows you a peak into all your fave bloggers lives. Much more personal with pictures. And I love posting pictures of my kitty obvi.

2. Do you subscribe to any daily reads? If so, which ones?
Sad face, I do not.

3. Favorite magazine to read by the pool?
Always love a good Cosmo read and recently I am loving Self magazine.

4. Favorite Summertime Song?

This might be so last year but I still love it...

5. Best summer concert you've been to?

Is it sad I can't remember any? On to fixing this, this summer!

So since I do not have any good ones, what are some of your favorite summer concerts?

Hope you have a wonderful Sunday!
