See ya Summer

Sunday, September 1, 2013

The time has come to say goodbye to another summer and what a summer it was. I am so excited for fall to be here but sad to have seen summer go by so fast.

Today, I wanted to jump back into my Sunday Social with Neely.

1. What was your favorite trip/vacation/activity this summer?

I'd have to say my wedding was quite the best activity I could have asked for this summer and I can't believe we are coming up on 3 months.

Subsequently, my honeymoon will always be one of my favorite vacations and we already have plans to buy a house there. Ok, maybe in our dreams but it's still a plan.

2. What was your favorite outfit look/clothing item of the summer?

I enjoyed wearing dresses a lot more this summer. And this maxi was one of my favorites mainly because it actually didn't drag quite as much. Meaning this 5 foot 2 inch gal could pull it off! It might even be making a repeat this weekend.

3. What is one thing you wish you had gotten to do this summer?
I have been wanting to do a drive in movie for about the last 3 summers and I thought for sure this summer was the one but it wasn't meant to be. Maybe next year is the year!

4. What was your favorite song of the summer?

5. What was your favorite movie/tv show of the summer?

Somehow, we acquired quite a few new summer shows this year.

And here we go, Welcome Fall!

Sunday Social: Wrapping up the summer

Sunday, September 2, 2012

It's time for the first September Sunday Social!

But first Happy September everyone!! Only 13 more days until my best friend's wedding and I am obviously so excited!! Guess I better get crackin on that wedding speech.

This is also the month of someone's birthday. Maybe someone special. Maybe someone I live with. Maybe my fiance. He turns the big 2. 5. Quarter of a century old.

And wedding planning better be done by the end of this month. Riiiiight. One can wish. But I do want a good chunk taken care, especially my dress!

Well, on to my Sunday Social!

What was your favorite trip/vacation/activity this summer?
Well, I was not fortunate to go on any trips or vacations this summer...sadly. But I had a definite favorite activity(ies)....bridal shower AND bachelorette party for my best friend celebrating her upcoming wedding!

Favorite outfit look of the summer/clothing item?
I just had to relook over my monthly activites to find my outfit. I had to choose from my sexy moving attire, equally attractive work clothing or random errand clothing. Hmmmm.

What is one thing you wish you had gotten to do this summer?
Does it really have to be just one? Taken a vacation, ANywhere. Even a few days off for the move would have been nice. What was I thinking with that?

Favorite Song of the Summer?
"Call me Maybe" for sureeee.

Favorite movie/tv show of the summer?
Pretty Little Liars and AVENGERSSSS!!

I clearly have issues picking just one favorite. It's a sickness. Can't believe the summer is over already! Feels like it was just May about a week ago.

No, not that kind ;)

Currently loving this song from Little Big Town. It's one of those feel good summer songs. Now I just need to get me a boat and lose some pudge and I will be good to go.

Let's Talk about my Summer

Thursday, September 8, 2011

As the summer comes to a close and the chill begins to set in the air, I must reflect on my incredibly wonderful, life changing, awesome summer.

It started with a Memorial Day weekend spent at home...nothing too exciting and very ordinary. Nothing indicative of what was to come. I searched for apartments and at the end of June a new home was found for me. July was spent moving and unpacking for sure.

I have mostly settled in..just adjusting to bills and budgets which are not fun at all. It feels so nice to have my own place to call my home. To be able to decorate and have friends and family over and to just be in someplace that is new. Friends and family came over to check out the new place and I was more than happy to share it.

Then of course August brought the most life changing experience...the big engagement. I'm getting married!! still love to say that hehe But it will not be for a little bit due to us saving for the wedding and preparing for our life together.
I am so excited for this next chapter of our lives to begin!

The past almost month has been simply amazing to say the least. Us being able to celebrate our engagement all week in Disney was amazing and all the love and support we have gotten from family and friends. The dinners, cards and gifts were more than expected but loved. The phone calls and texts allowing me to relive that moment were the best and I am very thankful for all the love we received.

The summer also included multiple engagements in our circle of friends, one in May and another in July. A wedding in August and more to come the next year! Wine nights, dinners and family/friend gatherings all included in this summer and the very few beach trips. And as we said au revoir to summer the last two days were spent surrounded by family, friends and fiance :D

Although this has been an amazing summer it has also been bittersweet. As I said two large life experience happened within the past two months and the abscence of my mom did not go unnoticed. The move was the first large experience my mom hasn't been here for. My graduation I was still grieving so it was more numb. But this time I was aware. Aware that she should have been here bossing me around and sharing in the moving process and see how I have blossomed.

She should have been my first call after the engagement to share in my exciting news and the first person I would see after the engagement to show off the ring. All little girls dream of their wedding and their mom helping them tie their dress and crying when it's put on and just being there for the whole experience and I won't have it. Losing your mom is a neverending grieving process. At every stage of my life I feel/will feel my mom's abscence. But I know she is here with me..helping me and sharing in my joy.

Ready to end the year with many more memories!

UPDATE: My Life

Tuesday, August 9, 2011

Whoa momma. It has indeed been awhile. Thanks to my wonderful boyfriend for telling me how much I've been slacking

Well a lot has happened since my last little post. I found a new place and moved in!

Moving day was July 9 and I had a wonderful team to help me load and unload. Minimal complaining included ;)

and this was the mess that was left...

So definitely still a work in progress but I am getting there. As I get more unpacked and organized I will update pictures. So pretty much a few months from now..or so it feels.

Not much else to really update other than the big move. Job is going but right now I am most looking forward to vacation next week.

I AM GOING TO DISNEY WORLDDDDDD!!! I am so beyond excited. 5 days with Minnie and Mickey and of course all the princesses. Whooooo!! Not to mention a week away from work. Ahhh a breather.

Lily is adjusting to the new place. We have had our obstacles trying to get her acclimated but I think very soon she will be very comfortable here. She wasn't sure about the smaller space at first but she is finding places she can go to hide and just sleep. So it won't be long until the behavior issues are gone.

I will definitely keep up with this much more now. I had been consumed with moving and unpacking and work but as it starts to slow down I will have more time.

Happy 4th of July!

This day we are all thankful for our freedom and we are the home of the free because of the brave. I'm proud to be an American and thank everyone who has given me my freedom.

Happy Summer!

Monday, June 21, 2010

Today is the first day of Summer 2010 and it couldn't be a nicer one. At least where I am. Not humid, a little hot but all over sunny and gorgeous.

This summer will most definitely be a memorable one for me. I am leaving the place I have called home for 23 years and it will prove to be most difficult. It is exciting but at the same time I am leaving behind my safe space. No one likes to do that and wants to. But I guess they call that growing up.

Harmony made me who I am today and it will always be in my heart no matter how near or far I go. This was the place I shared all my memories with my mom through my years and that will always be in my heart.

Where I am going I am still unsure but hopefully it will prove to be a great place.

Vacation this summer too!! ow that is truly exciting. Brian and I are taking a semi-vacation in August to Baltimore. Almost all booked and planned. I think that will get me throuhg the move. At least I am hoping with fingers crossed.

Beach days with friends, visiting family, a few grad parties and my dear friend's bridal shower (!) will top out the summer ahead. It will be ups and downs until the fall but as always I am along for the ride. Let's see where it takes me.
