Crickets, Be Gone.

Hear that?

That's the sound of crickets. And what you have all been hearing this past week. I hope you're still here and ready for me to be back. But I will give you a glimpse of what I have been up to this past week and a half. Then maybe you might just forgive me.

On the grind, selling my skills

My loves.

Helping with the mess of a bedroom

Our current state of a dining room

Thursday night date night in

America.

We spent a 4th of July together! Miracles.

Fireworks. Of, course

So does my crazy busy, hectic, unpacking week make up for the fact I have been MIA? I really, really hope so because I have some fun things coming up. And one might just benefit you in a BIG way.

Ch-Ch-Changes

Tuesday, February 5, 2013

With this blog, the purpose was always to write what I was feeling, going through.

Lately, I have shorted myself and kept back a lot of what I am feeling and what I have been going through. Shame on you, Krista. get ready for a complaining , whiny post

Throughout my life, I have had a lot of change. Been through a lot of things. Safe to say I still hate change.

You wouldn't know most of the time. My strength at work is resilient and adaptable. But, really am I?

When something happens, I have a hard time adjusting. I hate being out of my comfort zone, where I don't know the routines. 6 months ago I made the decision to leave behind my hometown, my family, my childhood friends and my job, to move in with the fiance. Ok, only an hour and a half away but it still feel likes much more. And call me a baby if you want, I would understand.

It was huge decision and I knew I wanted to do it. But it hasn't been easy and it still isn't easy. It was a decision I made for myself and our future but it is hard some days.

It's not easy having my closest friends to call up and meet up for dinner or lunch. I can't go out on a Friday or Saturday night with my friends when I work because it takes me an hour just to get to the ones that want to do something. That leaves a lot of nights where I'm stuck at home when the fiance goes out to play. Talk about a bummer.

And talking about my family makes my heart hurt. I grew up incredibly close to my extended family. Especially without my mom here. I saw them pretty much every week growing up and even before I left. Holidays were spent with them sharing laughs and random visits when I was down the road. And in my old town, that was a lot.

Now? I talk to them occasionally and I miss out on pretty much every holiday with them. I haven't seen most of them in the last 6 months and it's hard. Very hard. I know it's time to share and all that but being so far away makes it a lot harder to see my family.

They shared in so much of my life it seems strange they haven't been around the last 6 months for wedding planning. It takes a whole day or more to spend time with one or two of them. And forget the phone. We don't know how to use it sometimes. Myself included.

And the whole new job thing? Still getting used to that. It is much tougher in this neck of the woods. Less flexibility and less understanding. I am worked hard and my schedule sometimes makes it hard for a better work/life balance.

My paychecks remind me what I'm working so hard for but it's difficult when everyone else has their weekends and you're stuck at work. It's hard for other people to understand something they don't have to do and experience. Especially when deep down you know that diploma hasn't really helped you get all that far yet. *insert more bitter sentences*

And then let's talk about the lack of country I have here. I had no idea how to deal with rush hour traffic when I moved here. The only time I was late for work at my old place when I was stuck behind a tractor which was once in awhile. I didn't have to deal with rush hour in all its nonsense. And let me tell you, it is nonsense.

Forget about corn fields and trees. There are a few trees placed here and there. But nothing like the thick forests I'm used to. So basically, all around a culture shock.

At the end of the day, I have to look at what I DO have here. I have my fiance and Miss Lily. Our little family here. I chose this and I want this. I wouldn't go back to long distance either. That was rough too.

It will take more time I guess. I'm just a country girl after all. Always have been and always will be. Check back with me in another 6 months...

Goodbye Long Distance!

Tuesday, June 12, 2012

Moving is hard. Almost a full time job. It is not a joke. Even Lily is stressed. Hanging out under curtains.

(what is with the space above the picture?!...any suggestions would be appreciated!)

Doesn't help that we have procrastinated just a tiny bit....It is now June 12th and my lease is up July 1 anddddd we still have not found a place to call ours.

But in all of this chaos and stress I need to be focusing on that word. Ours. The apartment, home will be ours. Mine and his. Living together. Goodbye long distance relationship!!

Yes, that's right. For the past 3 years we have been doing the whole long distance relationship and quite frankly, I am way over it. I think I was over it about 2 years ago. But it is what it is and we will finally share the same zip code!

I live in a lovely little town in the northern part of the Garden State and he lives wayyy farther down the Garden State. Something to the tune of an hour and half. That's right. For the past 3 years since we left school, we have been travelling an hour and half to see each other. Bunch of crazies. What we do for love.

Let me just say, this is what I  won't miss:

-Talking on the phone each day after work. Which included many dropped calls and 'whats as our phones did not contribute to the long distance relationship.
-All the travelling! A good 30k miles on my car can probably be attributed to these travels.
-Coordinating plans when we are at opposite ends of the state. Wait, meet me where? Then we go when?
-Every other weekend visits. Not fun.
-Never spending any weekdays together!
-Family outings alone. I think sometimes my family thinks I don't have a fiance...I kid...I kid. Just excited to do these together!
-The constant I miss you's and good-bye's.

So from here on out be prepared for the moving/cohabitation updates..after all this will be interesting and quite the ride!

UPDATE: My Life

Tuesday, August 9, 2011

Whoa momma. It has indeed been awhile. Thanks to my wonderful boyfriend for telling me how much I've been slacking

Well a lot has happened since my last little post. I found a new place and moved in!

Moving day was July 9 and I had a wonderful team to help me load and unload. Minimal complaining included ;)

and this was the mess that was left...

So definitely still a work in progress but I am getting there. As I get more unpacked and organized I will update pictures. So pretty much a few months from now..or so it feels.

Not much else to really update other than the big move. Job is going but right now I am most looking forward to vacation next week.

I AM GOING TO DISNEY WORLDDDDDD!!! I am so beyond excited. 5 days with Minnie and Mickey and of course all the princesses. Whooooo!! Not to mention a week away from work. Ahhh a breather.

Lily is adjusting to the new place. We have had our obstacles trying to get her acclimated but I think very soon she will be very comfortable here. She wasn't sure about the smaller space at first but she is finding places she can go to hide and just sleep. So it won't be long until the behavior issues are gone.

I will definitely keep up with this much more now. I had been consumed with moving and unpacking and work but as it starts to slow down I will have more time.

My Gram and Poppy's House?

Saturday, June 18, 2011

How many of us love those moments that take us back to those good ole' time memories? Well, the answer is of course everyone. I was actually fortunate enough today to have that moment. I took a visit to a possible apartment(actually a duplex) that was labeled as 'historic.'

It was indeed historic. It reminded me of my Grammy and Poppy's house when I was young. The same fireplace that is shaped like a fireplace but is replaced by a wall. Then there are the closets that creak open with the sliding lock. And who can forget the brown hardwood floors and metal, wobbly doorknobs? And then I was able to see the same peeling windows that I crushed my thumb in and told the white lie that "I didn't actually open it Grammy like you specifically said not to do, I hit my thumb on a nail."  Yea, like she fell for that one. Oh, and I can't forget no air conditiong and creepy basement.

This obviously wasn't the place for me but it definitely brought back some great memories. For myself, sister and uncle.
Here's a glimpse :)

a disappointing house search today but I'm sure the next one might be it. Fingers crossed!

back in action!

So I have been MIA from here for almost a month (!) and there is really no excuse for it. I mean I was working a lot actually. And then having somewhat of a social life. I will update you bit by bit.

Today I will tell you how the packing and organizing has been going. No place found to live yet. But so much stuff piling up. case in point....

Yup. All mine, And that's only one room where my stuff is piled. More to follow...
Which begs the question, how am I going to fit in a tiny one bedroom apartment? But that looks like the only place I can afford being as Target does not pay for the townhouse I really want to live in haha
Doesn't hurt to dream though I guess.

There's a tid bit for now. More to come.
