Where am I coasting to?

Tuesday, July 30, 2013

Ever feel like you are just coasting along?

I wish I was coasting here

The days just keep going by and the same thing happens every single day and you are just butting your head at the ceiling trying to get out of this never ending flow.

It seems I have gotten myself in the awful, peace less flow and I need to get out of it.

My days consist of going to a job that is slowly but surely eating me alive

Why yes, I am educated and smart, you ungrateful human being of a person.

Then I come home to an apartment that never seems to be clean or organized. What's that about?

Maybe that's why..

My days off are grocery shopping, cleaning. Grocery shopping, laundry. Cleaning, organizing.
Even though this sounds like the MILF life I desire, I assure you, it is not even close.

And my weekends are also spent at the previous job responsible for eating me alive.

So husband, how are you enjoying your night out with all our friends wifeless?

Does this sound like a fun way to live? No, it's not. I am at the point where I want to give my two weeks notice, throw all the stuff away in our apartment and move with my husband across the country.

Is that too much to ask?

Yea, but that's not real life, Krista.

Oh, well in that case...

I still want to throw everything away and get brand new things and hire a maid and professional organizer to make it look pretty so I can stop spending 80% of my time organizing and cleaning.

I don't have time to even write a well meaning blog post because I look around and see everything I should and need to be doing. Or my nice husband reminds me ;)

I want to get out of this flow. I want to get rid of everything that is cluttering my life. And I want to get back to having good blog posts and writing. I truly miss it. Who wants cleaning as their hobby?

Goals for August:
Come up with a game plan to get a new job (online courses. quitting?)
Throw away at least 40% of my storage unit (new things are always better anyway for our future house)
Put our wedding album together to have something pretty to look at on bad days

And you are welcome for the most random, all over the place blog post.

If this post scared you, please come back soon anyways because I have been asked to review some wine glasses and you know where the best blog posts come from , am I right?

The Truth About my Blogging

Thursday, April 11, 2013

Since I have some new faces around here and there has been an absence of posts from me... I decided a truthful blog post is a go. The Truth about this here blog and my blogging.

The truth is:

I started blogging back in 2010 on a site called Webs.

I only blogged for myself, for me to write. It took months before I let anyone read what I had to say. It was my coping mechanism. My journal.

As I became more and more interested in blogging and saw it's potential
(thanks Molly!)
Stilettos & Diapers
Yes, the first blog I loved. Goes in line with my MILF aspirations. Cuz she definitely is one!

I made the move to Blogger in 2012. I 'made' my own design and was off running. Actually, more of a slight walk.

Since then, I have tried to grow my blog. I finally had the extra cash flow to try out a new design(Many thanks to Shannon!)

I have also started to meet some of the greatest blog friends whether through link ups or the Cara Box.
And some of the best blogs I love and get excited when they notice ;)

Kate @ Classy Living
Fun Fact: We live like an hour apart and have yet to meet!
Mallory @ From California to Kansas

Always has the best response for my tweets and crazy blogger questions

Emily @ Newlywed Moments

Absolute sweetest!

Katie @ Katie Did What
Love how happy and positive Katie always is!
Stephanie @ Beautiful Mess
Stephanie has the greatest crafts and lives in Texas. Enough said.

Kenya @ Life with Giggle
Life with Giggles
Fellow Jersey girl who always  reads my crazy posts
and leaves the sweetest comments!

Raven @Don't Quote the Raven
Don't Quote the Raven
And she just cracks me up on a daily basis!

Now a little truth about my posts..

I write my posts on the fly, I do no schedule posts. Though maybe I should with life getting so crazy lately. So my posts can range anywhere from an early morning post to an extremely late night post. There have been both.

Blogging is not my day job {yet}. I work 40 hours a week and do blogging as my hobby. I also do not have access to a computer until after 4 because of said job and my phone (be it a smart one or not) only about an hour each day. Yes, might be unfathomable but it's the reality.

Hence the constant struggle with posts lately. I am making time for wedding planning and I need to make time for my fiance. And let's also say I need to make time to do the everyday boring chores. And I am supposed to fit all of this in the 5 hours I have after work. That leaves little to no time to sit down and figure out the posts for the day. (Which is why I constantly stalk this gal...she does it all and I just am trying to keep  up and figure out how!)

And the whole marketing my blog on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram? Forget it. I see posts 3 hours after they happen and who wants a reply then? Not to mention I have 8 hours of tweets to read and therefore, never get through them the proper way. Yes, I made lists but it doesn't seem any less overwhelming.

I also might have no clue what I am doing. Yes, let's go with that. I write to write and hope somebody reads it and says, "Yes, ok. I get it." Am I still stumbling around this big blog land? You bet ya!

Almost like back in high school, trying to fit in with the cool kids. Will they comment on my blog? Will they respond to my tweet? Omgosh she's following me on Twitter!!

So basically, in a random, crazy filled nutshell....The blogging spark has dimmed for me a little bit. Has it gone completely out? Definitely not! I have big plans for this space of mine after I become a MRS...
57 days people!!

I just think right now I am in more of a coast mode. I will write when I want to write and it won't be often. And I guarantee it will more than likely be wedding related leading up to the nuptials.

But I know I will come back and the blogging light will be shining bright. And I will be a cool kid. The end.

Oh and speaking of Mallory...she is hosting the cutest link-up there ever could be! (See why she's one of the cool kids? She has cool ideas.)

It's a day for all us fur baby mamas to show off our sweet little(or big) things. And do all the bragging we want. And did I mention you might be able to win some cool pet swag in the process? Because you can.

Paws To Claws From California To Kansas

So get ready! I will be having more of an overload of pictures of Ms. Lily. And if you're a fur baby mama like myself, Mallory and plenty others...you should link up! Because I know I'll be hopping around to check out all their adorable faces.

Getting back to the Raw

Tuesday, March 5, 2013

My blog is mainly a lifestyle blog where I document my life with my fiancé (soon to be hubby) and kitty Lily (Yes, I might quite possibly be a crazy cat lady.) I include some wine, wedding planning, dancing and Carrie Underwood and the occasional craft.

The back story is that I had a blog platform back in 2010 where I wrote for myself. It was my journal to let myself heal and deal with no job after college and my mom being gone. I wasn't comfortable with people reading my writing but it helped me. By the end of that year I started to share my blog with my then boyfriend and my closest friends.

And from there I opened up my readership more, got more involved with other blogs and FINALLY switched over to Blogger last year and I could kick myself for not doing it sooner.  I have started to meet the best people! And I truly enjoy getting to know people from all over and having the support.

Since I have made the switch though, I noticed more and more link-ups and me just holding back. The past week I have been reflecting on my past posts and how real they were. And the reason was because it was only me reading. I didn't have to worry about other eyes and other opinions coming out of it.

Well, I have decided..shame on me. Shame on me for censoring myself and being afraid of judgments and opinions. Shame on me for not truly writing for me but for other people and what I think people want to see.  But go me for truly looking at this and making the decision to turn it around.

But no worries, I will still have my Pinterest craft days and wedding days. But I will definitely be going back to raw and real. And I would say I apologize to friends and family but I don’t. I will just say I forewarn you that it’s about to get real. I don’t want hard feelings or judgments. This is just my place for my thoughts. Without judgment. It’s my therapy, my journal. Mine might be open for everyone to see but it’s a journal none the less.

Do you ever feel yourself holding back or at a lack of words?

A whole bunch of random Thursday.

Thursday, February 28, 2013

Today is Thursday.

Usually that varies between a Pinterest craft or 30 Second Video.

But I have realized the past few weeks I haven't been doing much of either. Bad, bad, bad.

Mainly because all my crafts are wedding related. Why's that a problem you ask? Because there are a good amount of my guests that read this blog and I am not too sure I want to show the goods before the big day.

Does that make me a little crazy or nuts? I am not sure. I just think of them seeing it on wedding day and being like, " Oh yea, I saw that a couple months ago. No big deal."

Or could it be more of, "Oh yea! I saw this on her blog and couldn't wait to see it in person!"

Yes, those both sound crazy when I say them out loud. (I do repeat my blog posts out loud. It's whatevs)

As for my 30 second video hiatus...I do not plan ahead of time so when Thursday comes, it's my day off. Therefore, there are errands to run and chores to do around the apartment. The video then comes or goes. Needless to say, I need to get better about the planning. All my posts come to think of it.

And on top of all of this is, Who says I HAVE to do these things on Thursday? What if I want to just ramble on and on for someone to read and not care about? Well, I can do that too. Hence this post.

But I do find my Thursday link-ups quite fun. I mean, who can say they posted a video of themselves dancing on YouTube for everyone to see and laugh at?

So what do you think...should I just reveal the wedding crafts? Or wait until the big day?
And how do you plan out your link-up posts?

And what is your take on random babble ;)

Miracle Moisturizing Jeans:Thanks Wrangler

Friday, January 18, 2013

"Gee golly whiz....why ISN'T there jeans that can moisturize my bum and regions for me?! And better yet reduce my cellulite! That would be so nifty!"

Or that's at least what Wrangler thought women everywhere were saying to themselves. Because they will be  releasing "Wrangler Denim Spa" on January 28th. Yup, you heard it right.

Apparently these beauties are offered in 3 different styles and "are infused with one of three soothing ingredients: Aloe Vera, Olive Extract or special formula Smooth Legs," according to the Asos.com web site where they're available.

And what could be cheaper than a spa session? Wearing these jeans for just $136. But I hardly doubt it's better than a nice spa session. (Going off what I've heard..) And add that to all the expensive lotions and creams you have in your bathroom cabinet meant to work moisturizing miracles and you have a small fortune ready.

Oh, and there's more.

Let me talk about the Smooth Legs. It claims "to reduce the appearance of cellulite." Doesn't every expensive cream on the market? What would make us believe that a pair of jeans will do anything for us after all the creams we have tried have failed? Oh, and docs say in order to see any effect from these, you would have to wear them 28 days in a row. Lovely.

Sadly, some bad news....the moisturizing agent won't last forever in the jeans. They claim 15 wears without washing...Good luck with that dirty jean thing. And if you are actually hygienic and wash your jeans more than twice a month, you will be required to purchase a separate spray to reload your jeans to rub off on your goods.

And to add insult to this crazy injury? Mick Jagger's daughter is the spokesperson...someone who says her cellulite was reduced from wearing the jeans. Raise your hand if you think there was any there in the first place.

I for one will stick to my Olay moisturizing lotion. It works just fine when used how people use lotion. I don't need it on my jeans.

Is it me or is this just crazy town??

Anatomy of a sick day

Thursday, December 27, 2012

Today, was a sick day.
Still carrying the fever like a champ. Still poppin' the cold meds and drinking the hot tea like it's my job. And I guess it is today being as I wasn't at my actual job today.

Basically, my day started with a late wake up call from Ms. Lily. Not sure if she was concerned or wanted the option to have her bowl filled with more food.

I then proceeded to the couch, tried to get down some waffles before taking my cold medicine. Never have I ever not wanted to eat more than this morning. But then again, maybe this is a good wedding diet?

Then my trusty phone rang with a nice reminder that my wedding dress was in!!! (which I had gotten the phone call last week but the holidays ate up my time) The nice lady told me I had 3 days to get it before it was returned...uh what!!. Cue me jumping in the shower, throwing on some makeup to disguise my pasty  white, sickly face and drive to the shop to pick up that nice dress.

THE DRESS IS NOW IN MY POSSESSION!!! And I get to look at it all day, everyday if I wanted. Well, if I didn't have an actual job. But this also means things are getting real. and real fast. Here we are getting into 2013...that means wedding year and 5 months to go!!

But anyways, back to my sick day which I know you are all loving to hear about. Stopped off at a Dunkin...drive through of course. Getting that wedding dress ate up all my energy. Ordered myself a large hot tea. Oh yea. There's something about a Dunkin Donuts hot tea that isn't the same as the one at home.

Proceeded to come home, change back into my sick day clothes, popped some more meds and passed out on the couch. Had the cutest snuggle buddy.

And here is all the great tv I watched today....CSI: Miami, He's Just Not That Into You, Real Housewives, Friends, The Ugly Truth, The Back-up Plan. All very good quality tv. And all the time downed lots of water and soda...to soothe my throat. Even added some apple cider vinegar in there. I'll try anything when I feel this awful.

I also spent some time catching up on blogs, preparing some fun, new things for my own blog (!) and entering into fun giveaways. Found this gem of a giveaway over at Very Jane. A New Years Giveaway where you can win 3 very awesome prizes.

Canon EOS Rebel T3i Digital Camera with EF-S 18-55mm IS II Lens Kit

Kitchen Aid Mixer

An iPad Mini

So very hoping I am one of the winners!

My bedtime will be coming soon I'm sure. But I am so very excited for my wonderful, handsome nurse to get home and take care of me:)

And THAT my friends, is my sick day.

The 12th day of the 12th month of the (20)12th year.

Aka. 12/12/12

Last we, me and you, will ever see. Sad to hear we will not be there in a hundred years. Even though they keep saying it won't happen until January 1, 3001. Um, what happened to January 1, 2101?? Even though it's not technical, still counts in my book. Still use the last two numbers. Just sayin'

Aka. #121212concert.

Amazeballs. Humbling. Touching. Wonderful. So many talented, courageous people in one room. And all to help the people of New Jersey and New York. Just pure awesome.

Aka. #Brady121212.

Obviously love me some Tom Brady. And love that he has the number 12. And that he was named AFC Offensive Player of the Week for a standout performance on Monday Night Football.

Aka. The 12th.

Both a glorious day and gloomy day. The 12th of February I was blessed with securing a very fine mate who will become my hubby in 6 months (glorious)
The 12th of January, the most important person in my life, my best friend, my mother was taken from me and sent to Heaven. My heart has since been filled with a dreadful whole.
But that same year on the 12th....I was given the wonderful news that this little precious baby would be mine the very next day.

So me and the 12th, definitely a love/hate relationship we got going on here.

And this was my 12/12/12 present from Dunkin Donuts. Yummm!

Hope you had a memorable 12/12/12!!

A Blogger's Past.

Tuesday, November 27, 2012

Today, I get to share a personal story or talk about who I am thanks to Becky at From Mrs. to Mama. It's called the Women Connect. In the hopes that we all can connect with people going through the same as us.

She suggested describing who we are, why we write or just a personal story.

Trying to introduce yourself is hard.

Hello, I'm Krista...getting married to the love of my life June 7, kitty mama, motherless daughter, still trying to find my dream job.

Um. Not digging it.

Let's try the story behind why I blog.

I started blogging in 2010 after I had stumbled on a blog randomly searching something in Google. I went through it and read how this person was sharing their whole life on this little space on the Internet. Feelings, experiences, everything. It seemed she was giving everyone a peek into her life. And I thought about how I wanted to do that.

I love writing. Always have. This seemed like a great opportunity. But I started out on a random blog interface because I wasn't fully convinced I wanted my blog out there, wanted people reading what I was writing. It was more of a diary for me, a way to pour out my thoughts and feelings at a difficult time. Boy, wish I knew what kind of community would have helped me here..

Dealing with the loss of my mother the year before, graduating college and not finding the job I had hoped and just going along everyday not sure what tomorrow would bring. The blog was my place to go when I had strong feelings, when I wanted to document happenings in my life. It became therapy for me.

In March 2012, I finally made the decision to move my blog to Blogger and become a part of the blogging community. I was ready to share what I wrote with everyone. I don't know what took me so long. I love getting comments on what I'm writing and being able to share my life and experience with my friends and family far away.

I write about the grief that comes with being 'a motherless daughter.' It's a never ending healing process.

I write about all the wedding plans we have been embarking on in the past few months and will continue until wedding day and after!

I write about the life I live my little family in a new place.

And I write about all the quirky things that come into my brain. And you might also notice, I can be very opinionated ;)

But this little space has become my brag brook, my life documenter and some days, my therapy. Hope you enjoy and if you dare, feel free to read my very first entry!

The time is now

Do what you've always done and you will get what you've always gotten.

Words to think about. If you aren't changing any of your habits to get to your hopes and dreams...how do you expect to get there? Yes, Krista. This means you.

Ever sit and wonder what exactly you can start doing differently to change the outcomes. Whether it's a small action or a large decision or just a different perspective. Looking back on your days of consistent activities and emotions and noticing you aren't really changing much from day to day.

Well. It is no longer acceptable.

Do one different thing everyday. Smile when you get up in the morning if you are usually grumbling. Might put a positive spin on your whole day.

Didn't get to that run yesterday because you were just too tired? Get off the couch and run!

Been wanting to take up a new hobby but you are a little hesitant if you could do it? Do it anyway! One day you might just own a business around that hobby. Hey, you never do know. I am a bit of a hobby whore collector myself and try any and all hobbies to see if I can do it. Trust me, it's fun just to try!

And if you aren't sure and are hesitant, just remember to have faith. Faith that even if you make a mistake or end up somewhere you didn't think you would, it was for a reason. There is a plan in everything. There is a lesson and something to learn in every action and mistake so take a chance.

I'm giving myself this challenge. Starting with one new thing a day. And see where it goes from there. Excited to see what happens!

Who dares to try to kiss Will Smith?!

Wear No Pants Today and Eat that Cake

Friday, May 6, 2011

So it seems May has a lot of fun, official and unofficial, themed days.

May 5- CONCO DE MAYO! ARRIBA! ARRIBA!
This was yesterday and I hope everyone got to sip a little bit of a margarita to celebrate this holiday.

Now today. May 6.
National Nurses Day- This day kicks of National Nurses week until it culminates on Flornece Nightingales birthday. So today is a day to honor all the nurses in your life and arpund the world that work hard everyday.

BEVERAGE DAY
Take a sip of your favorite drink today. Whether it be iced tea, milk or some Diet Coke. You know my Diet Coke is already ready fpr me to enjoy.

NO DIET DAY

Put away those calorite counters. Go out and buy that chocolate cake. No diets today. Let's all be free! After all, if it's no diet day we have to oblidge.

And now for my favorite....

NO PANTS DAY!

That's right. Today is the day where you are supposed to lose the pants and wear your thickest, most repsectable boxers or undergarments. It is meant for humor and freedom and I don't think it's a coincidence it's so close to Cinco de Mayo. Now this is one worth participating in. Think of the look you'll get when you show up to your meeting in boxers.

Today is a super fun day. Everyone might ignore these kinds of undeclared holidays but I think it helps make life fun. Turns it up a bit. So today I know I will be calling my aunt to thank her for being an amazing nurse, while I sip my Diet Coke, eating some cookies all the while not wearing pants.

Enjoy your May 6!
