The Job History of My Dreams

Thursday, October 2, 2014

When I was younger, I went through career changes as often as I changed my clothes. Hated this skirt, now wanted to be a model. No, never a model but was always changing my mind.

I can say with confidence that I have always been a dreamer. Lots of ideas, things I want to do, accomplish. So naturally, I went through multiple career dreams.

Bright eyed for my dream job.

// A vet was first on my list. I think every little girl with pets has this career choice in mind for a quick second. I just took it with me for a few years. Until I researched some more, and I think I read something about sticking my hand and arm up a horse's hoohah that turned my career choice away. That and the fact I would have to cut into precious animals. No, thank you.

// A teacher. My sister and I had the old school books, the chalkboard and would always play teacher and student. It was exciting to have the control and be in front and teach. It was decided that's what I wanted to do. Until, I was given the opportunity to tutor in the second grade. Teaching a first greader how to spell and read was hard. And not for me. No, thank you.

// A dentist. Call me crazy at the age of 5 but I was set on doing this for a living. I thought I could really clean and drill into people's teeth. I loved math and could tolerate science so why not?

// A CSI. I blame this one on the television show.

// A writer. When we were taking trips or at school in free time, I would write. I would write stories about kids, stories about life. Mostly fiction, sometimes thought provoking. I had a few pieces published in the local newspapers as one of those look at this cute piece by this local girl.

This is the career I went to high school wanting. It quickly developed into a magazine writer. Yearbook and literary magazine design after school really solidified that this is the choice I would be making. Journalism would be my game. Signed and sealed.

Then, I saw the world of PR. I wanted in something bad. I love current events, knowing what's going on and I knew I could be a personal PR person one day and ride with the stars.

Here I am, today. Not riding with the stars but instead riding in a car that might be on its last mile. Here I am, in a job that has probably started the growth of grey hair. But I'm also here, married, with a Lily and streaming on the line of content.

After all of that, my dream job now, MILF. Or full-time blog writer. Because journalism degree and all..

What is your dream job?
