National UnFriend Day (NUD)

Wednesday, November 17, 2010

today, November 17, 2010, has been declared National UnFriend Day. By Jimmy Kimmel. It is the day to be able to defriend the thousands of friends you have on Facebook and not feel guilty about it.

He also points out that Facebook is cheapening the word friend and friendship which I will admit, does carry some truth. Someone you haven't seen or talked to in years requests to be your friend, but they aren't.

Watch.

So, who will you be unfriending?

Whoa, a month?

Tuesday, November 16, 2010

Has it really been a month?

Sadly, yes. And it was brought to my attention by my friendly stalker, my boyfriend (love youu). He so aptly told me one ," You haven't written in your blog in awhile :(" Indeed, it was true.

Now I sit here and reflect back on a month of my life and it seems that there was a lot happening and transpiring. Still living on the mountain. Which if you are keeping track I had planned to be all cozy and adjusted to my NEW surroundings by now. Oh well.

One of my close friends became a Mrs. in the past month, October 15. Such a weird concept but so nice and grown up. I guess it really is true, we are all growing up. But I can still be in denial about it.

The holidays are quickly approaching and it is becoming MY FAVORITE TIME OF YEAR!! No, for real, I love Christmas. Everyone who knows me, knows this about me. I play Christmas music in the middle of summer. I really wish there could be such a thing as Christmas in July.

There was a very touching story that I want to share with everyone but I will save that for the next few days. (I will be back this time I promise!)

And now that I have rambled and given a bunch of random information, I must say one last thing. My kitten Lily turned 1 yesterday! She is now a cat and ever more the brat. But I still love her. ***Not sure if November 15 is her real birth date but I have declared it to be. Until the very short next time:)

Today, October 5, 2010, is a very special day. Not only is it the most common day for a birthday (yea it's been studied) BUT it is also the day Beauty and the Beast is released on DVD and Blu-Ray!!!

Now we need to back up to understand my full obsession with this movie and more specifically, Belle. I was given this movie as a Christmas present and it was love at first watch. I got to name a new dog and I chose Beauty. Belle was my favorite princess and I wanted to be her. She was brunette and read books. And plus side..it had a great moral.

Unfortunately, toys weren't as extensive back then as they were today but when there was Belle available I got it. And it never stopped. My mom always got my little trinkets with Belle. Puzzles, hair accessories you name it, I have or had it. Disney World was a bust though. Never did get my picture with Belle *sigh* But I will never give up!

Everyone close to me is well aware of my slight obsession with Belle. Sorority nickname was LittleBelle. Character on my family tree? Yup, Belle. Recent Christmas present from my friend, Lenox Belle. It is true you are always young in your heart. I will always be young and girly with my Belle and princesses.

2012 I will probably be first in line when Disney World opens the new addition to Fantasyland, the Beauty nad the Beast castle!!! And even a restaurant. Um, yea. In case you need to know all about it like me, click here.

Ok enough babble. Time to buy Beauty and the Beast. Bye!!

Dollar Shopper

Monday, October 4, 2010

If you are one of the many people that have increased their shopping at Dollar Stores in the pas few years then this article is of interest to you. javascript:mox();

It tells you what exactly to buy and if it really is a steal or a way to get you to spend more. I am of the masses that has switched to the Dollar Store for some weekly purchases. I must say I have been quite happy with what I get and the amount I spend.

The bologna I would buy at the supermarket would probably be about $1.89 but I get it for a dollar, same brand. Same goes for hot dogs and butter. And the expiration dates are reasonable. The simple snacks such as popcorn and small candies are also useful for me.

Some things I don't buy there unless absolutely necessary: napkins- they don't really have much value and I end up going through them quicker than with a name brand so it just evens out in price, eggs-sorry but just the idea of that doesn't sit right with me and any kind of medicine.

This article does have some good tips to remind you, they are a retailer so they still want to stupe us, the consumer. But I will still be loyal to my Dollar Store.
