Rainy Days

I just want to take some time and give my appreciation for rainy days.

We might knock them here and there for ruining plans or making it miserable out. But we all fail to see that rainy days give us an easy out. You might then ask, "What in the heck do you mean?"

Well, that is a very good question. As I sit here on my day off it is indeed a rainy day. It went from cloudy to rainy but it is a rainy day nonetheless. This day of rain and clouds made for the perfect lounging day. So that is what I did. And my excuse can just simply be, it was a rainy day.

Rainy days are meant to be lazy and gloomy. Meant to put you in this weird funk. But it also a time when you can actually take a break and breathe. When the suns out we are all eager to be on our way, conquer the day, be in a hurry as we should because it's bright and beautiful out. That all changes on rainy days.

The turtle slow pace sets in. The 'ah' moment is captured. The moment that you actually can sit there and breathe because it's raining. You aren't expected to be in a hurry and conquer the day. Or not as much in a hastened space. These days allow us a breather of sorts. These are the lazy, unproductive days that we as, technologically tuned in 24/7, in a hurry, species desperately need every once in awhile. When there are cobwebs in our ears, oh it's ok it's raining. Or the I didn't go out and do all the 250 errands I had today but it's ok because it's raining.

However, I don't mean to imply that your mood should match the weather. Still smile, laugh and just enjoy the laziness of what a rainy day brings. Take time with your coffee and your morning routine. Why? Because it's raining! Grab some rarely seen takeout for dinner. Why? Because it's raining!

~The best thing one can do when it's raining is to let it rain. ~Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
