Five on Friday

Friday, March 7, 2014

Weeee, I am her for my first ever Five in Friday. Get ready for it.

One. Beauty and the beast. I will never grow up from you. I loved my husband for getting me tickets to see the play. I missed it on Broadway and so glad I was able to see it.

Two. Marriage boot camp is back tonight. If you ever heard or watched bridezillas, this is a great guilty pleasure. These couples are crazy and it's my guilty pleasure.

Three. So so excited to be back on the sponsoring train. Looking forward to putting more life back into to this blog. And seriously considering the Blogcation.

Four. Thanks Target active clearance I now have a wardrobe that I will pretend will put me in the fitness mood.

Five. Gluten has pretty much been left out of my life the past 2 months and I have felt a lot better. I am excited to continue on with this and even do my yeast free from time to time.

What's your five favorites from the week? Have a great weekend!

Cheers Not Jeers

Wednesday, March 5, 2014

I think it's beyond time I have gotten on the groove with this Cheers Not Jeers. Blogging has introduced me to great women and I love being able to connect with them and give them some "cheers!"

Cheers not Jeers

Today, I want to give the gal who gave my blog some new life some much needed cheers for her amazing talent and just be an awesome person.

Brianna, from Endlessly Beloved, is an Arizona gal that wishes for all the snow us here on the East Coast are tired of. There might have been a heated Twitter debate about it.

She loves iced coffee, talks about the 90s and runs a great design business, Sparkle Out Loud.

Brianna has a great spirit and passion when it comes to blogging and blog design. She was available at all times and even if she wasn't she would email back a quick comment when she would be available. This fresh new look wouldn't be here without her expertise.

She also hosts a very successful link up every month, 10 Favorite Things.

Clearly, she has this whole blogging thing down and is someone you definitely want to get to know. So go, now.

Absolutely loving this link up and think you should just give some cheers to fellow bloggers!

The Happiness Killer | Comparison

Tuesday, March 4, 2014

Scrolling through Facebook, I see a big lush bouquet. Turn to Instagram I see someone's brand new house they built and just how gorgeous it is. Trickle my way through Twitter and I see someone who tweet about going to the spa for the day with their BFFs.

My thoughts go from oh how nice to, wow, I wish I could afford that house.. *sad face* and then "Wahh I want a spa day but I work too much.

See what I did there? I compared my life to what I see other people posting on social media. And that my friends, is what steals your joy.

I am comparing my real life to what people are posting all across the mediums of social media. Which is just plain silly. As humans, we are sometimes prone to bragging and showing off all our grand things. And for the most part, that is what Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest and even Facebook are for. Showing everyone your life.

But what most people forget is, you see the highlights. The highlights of their day that led them to the spa. The highlights of what it took to get to that place to build that house. The highlights of why they received that big bouquet of flowers from their significant other.

For all we know, the couple had a slight disagreement the night before and the husband was sweet enough to bring home flowers. And the people building the house worked 2 jobs each, barely saw each other just to afford what they really wanted. The spa day might be a necessary escape from the stress of life, or a mom moment which I hear can be a rare opportunity.

My husband and I are trying really hard to budget our money and save for the house we want. It's so easy for me to compare how hard we are working to other people's brand new house. Easy for me to be jealous of everything they have because they receive help from their parents while we are doing this on our own.

I can then enter that wah wah wah, it's not fair, 5 year old version of myself. Stomping feet sometimes included.

Day after day, I go to a job I know I am better than. I apply, interview and nothing. It's so easy for me to look at everyone that is settled in their careers and where they are professionally and throw fits. That just makes this whole process even harder when I lead myself to those thoughts. I am where I am for a reason. Obviously, on the fast track to be a MILF.

My husband is great at doing simple, little things for me. He gets me flowers on holidays but taking out the trash and washing dishes are the equivalent of a bouquet of flowers any day. And I do not need to compare my marriage to another couples. My relationship with how me and my husband relate to how another husband and wife relate.

As for the spa day, yes, please. I have a gift certificate calling my name to use it. Penciling that in now so I can Instagram, Tweet, Facebook about it...

Don't compare where you are to where somebody else already is. Compare where you are to where you have been.

A 30th Birthday, Beauty & the Beast, Oscars Kinda Weekend

Monday, March 3, 2014

Guys. Gals. I had such a great weekend. Very relaxed and full of activities at the same time. I slept a lot. Ate a lot and it was just dandy.

Friday night we celebrated my sister's flirty, 30 with some bowling and drinks. I am so bad at bowling. Luckily, there was drinks involved and it seems I got better the more drinks I had. Win for me I say.

We set up clues for my sister to figure out her birthday gift.

Red's APPLE Ale

Sunflower Seeds

Her last clue: Told her it was for her new job. Look at her confused face

GOING TO SEE THE YANKEES!!

Handsome

I had a glorious 9 hours of sleep Friday night. Can you say amazing? It was one of those times I just needed it. Made sister a little breakfast, lounged around in PJs watching Final Destination and geared up for our big date night.

Played around with my camera

Husband got me tickets to see Beauty and the Beast for my birthday! If you know me, you know, that is my abolsute most favorite Disney movie. And I'm slighlty obsessed with Belle.

Sunday we also slept in, anticipating the snow that supposed to come. I had a shopping trip planned to Homegoods with a friend and we hit up the mall for a little bit. After stopping in Sephora, I officially want all the makeup in there. It just has to happen.

Then of course, settled in for some Oacar watching. Sad to see the weekend go. See ya in two weeks weekend!
