Seasons of Change

Thursday, November 7, 2013

Every year we have 4 different seasons, 4 different times of there where the state of mother anture is in change. We see leaves change, drop, grow. And it is also the times when we reflect on our own seasons of change.

As spring was sprung, I was frantically preparing for a wedding and eventually made it to the day where I became a wife. (Happy 5 months husband!) What a season of change that was. I had a new name and title. This title I have to live up to for the rest of my life. And I will continue to learn exactly what that means as the years go by and each season will be a new season of change as a wife. It was a change that changed me.

When spring turned to summer I was relishing in being a newlywed and celebrating our friends entering their own season of change on their wedding days. We were figuring out just what being newlyweds meant and adjusting our finances as such. When you are trying to save for a house and still have fun, you have to make some changes. Like take back a few of the things you somehow bought at Target that you absolutely didn't need. No bueno. Or cut back on the time you spend out on $9 drinks.

As we have entered fall and watched the leaves change and fall, I am continuing to reflect on the seasons that change us. The nights I used to spend out in the fall days of college, I now want to find the comfort of my home and my couch. After a long work week, I am drained physically and mentally and make the choice to be in my comfort place with the one I love. It might not be for you or you pass judgmement on my decision, but I am content that it is what I want from my life now.

And as we have just passed Halloween, those sexy, half dressed costumes do not appeal to me anymore. Hence why my costume this year involved my own jeans, boots and shirt. I just added some extra dirt to my face. Does this make me "old" or not fun? You can say yes and I'm ok with that. I have changed. And maybe check back with me in a few years when I'm rocking that MILF body after kids and can't wait to wear that skin tight outfit to show it off. (JK..kinda..)

Because of all of the seasons of change in my life the past 5 years, I have grown up into this scary, adult version of myself. For that I won't apologize or pretend I still want to  can stay up all night and drink. (Ok, give me one good night out once in awhile.) I would much rather be in a non crowded place and in my bed by 11. It has also had positive effects on our wallets. I'm comfortable enough through my changes to accept it.

So as you look back on the seasons changing, what are your changes you have gone through?

The Thankful Project

Tuesday, November 5, 2013

As it's November (or Movember) it is time for Thanksgiving. The month where we really reflect and give thanks for everything in our lifes.

I will go more into detail later on, but this month of thanks could not have come at a better time. Yup, I know it comes Novemeber every year. But this time, I am really drudging in my work and need to focus on the bigger picture at some points.

I am so thankful I found "The Thankful Project" from Kenzie at Chasing Happy.

As I am clearly behind a few days, I will catch you up....

Day 1: A Person

I think it goes without saying, this guy.

My handsome husband.  He is my rock, my life and I do not know how I would have survived the past 5 years without him. And I know the next years of our lifetime together will be nothing more than thrilling. Always an adventure with us.

Day 2: A role you've played

Daughter.

I will always be thankful I got to play the role of daughter to my mom for the short years she was here with us. It was a role I always reveled in. I had the normal teenage moments and gave attitude. But I always gave my mom the best and treated her as my hero. I worked hard so she wouldn't have to. And that role is something I will always look back on with a smile. A role I hope to pass on to my own daughter(s) one day.

Day 3: A place.

Harmony.

The place that made me who I am. The county girl who was always itching to do bigger things. But also allowed me to always appreciate the simpler things in life. Here is where I learned the value of family, technology was optional and comparisons didn't exist. Everyone lived their version of what country life and was content.

Day 4: An experience

 Traveling abroad with my friends.

I was given the opportunity of my high school career to take a trip to Spain with some of my closest. It was a trip I always love to look back on and am glad I was able to experience. It gave me a taste of a culture outside of our own and also allowed me to be thankful for our culture here. And it was my first trip with friends that I was able to experience It was also the last time I traveled in a world before 9/11.

Day 5: Talent I have

I have the knack to be creative. And I think that is a talent of it's own. I love to craft and am always curious to see if I can tackle something I see in a store. It also allowed me to really make my wedding my own, because I was able to design our programs, menus and other small details.

A few of my creations.

Friday's Letters

Friday, November 1, 2013

Dear November- Welcome into my life! I do not think I have ever been this excited for a new month. Well, ok June of this year but you come in a close second.

Dear husband- You are awesome. Enough said.

Dear bank account- You are my biggest accomplishmnet this month. Even though you see the ps and downs and it might not seem a lot, it's a great baby step for me. I am extremely happy for you right now. Now I think I'll go spend some money on a massage...

Dear sugar-I have decided to say goodbye to you for a little while. You have been making me feel just not right and it's time to go back to right again. I'm sure I'll sneak you in here and there but this is where we part ways.

Dear Christmas music-Loving it and love that it's November 1 so it's on one radio station. It's my jam for the next month and a half.

Being a Girl {Sponsored}

It has it's moments.

I mean, we can do pretty much everything these days. And we literally, can make life. Men can never utter those words. But with that most awesome gift, comes a once a month visitor. The dreaded period. Yes, guys. We get it every month and if you're reading now might be the time to stop. And this blog is about to enter the TMI zone.

I stumbled upon this gem "17 Worst Things About Being a Girl". And found myself agreeing time after time. Ice cream in loads? Well. duh. And maybe there are some days you shouldn't try to talk to me.

Luckily, there are 2 we can all cross of our our lists.

And that's all thanks to U by Kotex Sleek Tampons. I am hooked and won't be switching anytime soon.I wont lie that their cute, hip packaging is what sold me first.

Seriously, why did no one think to make tampons look cooler than those white, crinkly wrappers before now?

U by Kotex did. I never have to worry too much about carrying these in my pocket on my way to the bathroom. Because if one peeks it's way out of my pocket, I might possibly be able to pass it off as lipgloss. And the noise has exponentially decreased that used to let everyone in a 5 mile distance know it was that time of the month for you.

And even better news for my on the go female friends?

With the sleek tampons, I never have to have more than a couple on hand to get through my workday. I have much better coverage and never have to load my purse on the "dreaded DAY 2." Bulging small, zipper pouch of the purse anyone?

On a typical day, I am on my feet for 8 hours and always busy. Having to plan my restroom trips every hour was becoming a nuisance for me and I always hated the Day 2 due to possible accidents.

But now?

I get to breeze about my day and do my normal business with this being a side note, not the main event to my day. It's as if I'm free from the weekly hold to the restroom. These tampons provide full coverage in a slim size for your comfort. Literally. They are so sleek but with their full coverage you never have to worry about when you're going to make it to the restroom. And because they are available in regular, super and super plus, you never have to worry about what day you are on. U by Kotex has you covered.

So thanks to U by Kotex, we might be able to limit the number down to "The 15 Worst Things About Being a Girl."
