Musical Grey's Anatomy?!

Thursday, March 31, 2011

I know there are people saying they didn't like it but I really enjoyed it! It made the drama that much more intense and Sara Ramirez has an excellent voice.

All the songs were previous songs featured in Grey's Anatomy. She started with the opening song of Grey's which was very clever. "How We Operate" was from the episode when Denny was being operated on for his heart.

"The Story" was first featured on the music for Grey's Anatomy special. It was then played again when Private Practice started.

"Runnin on Sunshine" was played during the time Meredith told Derek and the vet that she just wanted to date. Commence them vying for her love.

There were definitely more fan favorites and I can't wait to download the songs on ITunes.

Bravo, Chandra Rhimes. Bravo.

Sisters, Friends

This was a post I had thought about last week but never got around to it being out of commission for about 4 or more days. I am now back to 100% and still want to write this.

Last week in sorority world of Alpha Xi Delta was Be Nice to...Week. Being out of school for a couple years it may seem odd to still speak these sentiments but for many reasons it's not. One, it's not 4 years, it's for life.I will always be an Alpha Xi Delta sister. Another reason is because it is not looking back but looking at some of the people that are still my closest friends that I also call 'family' and 'roommate'.

My big.
I'll never forget how much I wanted the moment to call her my big sister. We had our ups and downs but there is not a better friend I could ask for. She helped me grow and always looked out for me. No matter how far apart we are, she will always be my big sister.

My little.
I guess you could say we are almost opposites but I think that's what bonded us. Some say we were attached at the hip during our years at school and it is true. I loved every moment spent in her room and the nights barging in and bothering her. She let me be me, crazy or not :) No matter differences of opinions I love my little sister and couldn't have a better friend.

My grandlittle.
Recently, we have become very close and I am so thankful for that. We never got to live together in the house but we have formed a great friendship. I have bothered her with my craziness and vice versa. I look forward to sharing all my wisdom with her ;) and how our friendship will continue to grow.

My roommate.
She recently left me for warm Virginia but I guess I can forgive her. I will never forget the first time I met her in her heels. Our friendship strengthened our first year in the house when Marissa would spend countless hours in my room and we would just waste the hours talking. The next year we became roommates. There were moments in each of our lives those 3 years that we needed the other to hold onto and we were each there for each other. Whether it be yelling or crying, it didn't matter.

Our roommguest.
She just started coming in our room and never left. Her tiny shoes were a staple on our room floor. Her anger management was enjoyable and necessary at times. She listened to my complaints and I to hers. She always provided comedy relief when I needed it and has always been a great friend.  Go Yankees!

Great Grandlitte
Still a wee little baby. Still love her. I contact her for silly things such as what footwear to wear horseback riding haha. I also like to spoil her.

I have so many people that I was so lucky to meet through my time at Alpha Xi Delta. I am so lucky to have so many wonderful sisters.

Got the Bug

Sunday, March 27, 2011

Yup. That's right. The past 4 days I have been dealing with the icky stomach bug.
Let me tell you. Not a picnic. Having not been that sick in many years it through me for a loop. Sparing any details but to say, the couch, bed and ginger ale were my best friends. The computer hasn't been touched for days.

Poor Lily felt the effects of my sickness and refused to be my friend. How dare I be home for days and not give her all the attention. But have no fear, we seemed to have made our peace today.

Thanks to my sister who nicely came home bearing Theraflu (um, Godsend) and Ginger Ale. She also managed to keep my Lily entertained for some time. And thanks to Brian, who suprised me with chicken soup and The Social Network :)

Upon going back to work today though I have come to a great conclusion. When you take multiple sick days because you are obviously sick (not counting the Oh yea boss I'm so sick' ones) you should be given a free sick day the day after to recover from your sick days. Being sick takes a boatload out of you and if I had another day to rest that would have been just swell.

Well, that has been my few days. And being as I have used up all the energy I have for the hour, I will be slinking off to bed now. Goodnight.

....Cheesy Romantic Comedies. Some of my favorites are

Currently I am watching The Wedding Planner. Girl happens to find a guy that is engaged. She wins him over and he breaks off his engagement with his longtime girlfriend because he is madly in love with the new woman. *Sigh*

This genre of movie makes of the majority of my movie collection and I am no ashamed at all (ok maybe there are a few titles that I might hide towards the back...) These movies have helped me through bf issues, life issues, school issues, stress, etc. etc. It transports you to a time where this man actually exists. And I can guarantee it is true for any woman that watches these movies.

It's the man that does the cheesiest, romantic things because he loves the woman that a normal real life man won't do. He says all the right thing and makes your heart leap. Maybe it does happen once in a blue moon but if these were true life there wouldn't be Cosmo articles dedicated to these various topics.

Movies like this transport you to a different place. You know it isn't real but it's ok for that hour and a half to pretend it can actually happen. That place is also where your real life troubles don't exist. Kind of like reality tv but trust me, much better. And as a quote fiend, the romantic quotes just, well, there's no words.

So I will continue to pop in these chick flicks as part of my daily viewing. Either for pick me ups or enjoyable viewing.

Coffee! Coffee! Coffee!

Saturday, March 19, 2011

It seems I have started growing on my obsession with Dunkin Donuts and coffee.

Realizing this it brought me to thinking what would I do without coffee? Could I function? Yes. Would I function well? Probably not. I'm sure everyone can recall when coffee turned to that icky gross stuff adults drank to something we need in the morning and occasionally on those pick me up days. I remember my mom was an avid coffee drinker and I would start to sneak a cup here and there because if my Mom needed it every morning then I must need it.

It turned into an every morning cup of coffee. The rushed, pour it in a to-go cup, for high school. Buying a small 4 cup coffee for my dorm room and the late night Dunkin runs for all nighters. And now it's always making sure to savor the cup of coffee before heading off to work. ADd in the mid morning cup of coffee at work and on weekends. Possibly even another in late afternoon.

Now back to my obsession. Have a look...
(sorry for the obnoxious size. computer was not cooperating)

The benefit of this huge size is you can see the awesome flavors. Toasted Almond. Yum. Pumpkin Spice. Fall all year around. And the newest to my collection...Strawberry Shortcake. I can not say enough how good and awesome this is. I tell everyone about it and probably multiple times. Added bonus: it makes your whole house smell like strawberry. What an inexpensive air freshener that tastes delish!

I am one of the suckers that buys into the Dunkin Donut flavor craze but I must say they are all so good and I do not regret any purchase. I still frequent my regular coffee with the French Vanilla creamer but these flavors give me an added oomph on the days I need it. Trust me. Everyone should have some on those off days.

So if you gather anything from this post it's that you should go buy Strawberry Shortcake Dunkin Donuts coffee. Right now. Go.

Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss!

Wednesday, March 2, 2011

Today, March 2, is Dr. Seuss' birthday aka READ ACROSS AMERICA DAY.

Read Across America is a great program that was brough on by the National Education Association to encourage children to read. Books and reading are one of my favorite pastimes. I could go through a book a day if I had the time to just sit leisurely like that *sigh* But in all seriousness, children need to read to further their education and development. Get them off the couch and away from the video games and see what reading is all about. There's a whole new world in reading. A world you can make up in your mind that include pictures and scenarios. It is what books are all about.
Dr. Seuss was and still is one of the best children's authors around. He has written 44 children's books under his pen name and they all contain limericks and rhyming that when you are younger you can't help but love. His books have sold over 222 million copies worldwide and translated into 22 languages. A personal favorite I think was Green Eggs and Ham. Maybe because every elementary school has that one day where you make green eggs. I mean what could be cooler to a 7 year old? Very close favorite is the all beloved Cat in the Hat. I'm a cat lover so it speaks for itself. Dr. Seuss is also a brother of Sigma Phi Epsilon which makes him my brother :P
Libraries, schools and companies across America are holding reading events today to celebrate Read Across America. Everyone should particpate even if you are a little old for the Green Eggs and Ham. Pick up your own book and take a few hours to yourself and immerse yourself in the world of books today. Read. Read. Read.
